Filottrano:

Mr. Chris Squires We Salute You

by Robyn Ross posted June 29, 2015

Mr. Chris Squires, the longtime bassist for the rock band Yes, has died, according to a statement on the group's official Facebook page. He was 67.

The English musician revealed recently that he was suffering from a rare form of leukemia.

Born in London, Squires formed Yes, which became known for its symphonic style of rock music, with Jon Anderson in 1968. Soon guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford joined the pair and they released their self-titled first album in 1969. The band found commercial success in 1971 with their third and fourth albums, The Yes Album and Fragile, the latter of which featured "Roundabout," arguably the band's best known song.

While the band continued to change members, Squires was the only one to remain as bassist over the last five decades. Current keyboardist Geoff Downes tweeted about the news, writing:

Utterly devastated beyond words to have to report the sad news of the passing of my dear friend, bandmate and inspiration Chris Squire. #yes
10:06 PM - 28 Jun 2015

Squires is survived by wife Scotty and children Carmen, Chandrika, Camille, Cameron, and Xilan.

Hey yeah
Are you ready?

We be a guitar band
We play across the land
Shooting out tonight
Gonna keep you up alright

You hear the guitar sound
Playing nice and loud
Rock you to your knees
Gonna make your destiny

In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock n' roll we trust, it's rock or bust

We hear the siren scream
It sounds so lean to me
We love to shake it down
Know what we're talking bout

We turn the amps up high
The crowd's gonna hit the sky
We play it fast and loose
Because this night we're gonna pull a fuse

In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock we trust, it's rock or bust
In rock n' roll we trust, it's rock or bust
yeah yeah

In rock we trust, it's rock or bust

YES--I've Seen all Good People

Make the white queen run so fast

YES--I've Seen all Good People

I've seen all good people turn their heads each day
So satisfied, I'm on my way
I've seen all good people turn their heads each day
So satisfied, I'm on my way

Take a straight and stronger course
To the corner of your life
Make the white queen run so fast
She hasn't got time to make you a wife

'Cause it's time, it's time in time with your time
And its news is captured for the queen to use

Move me on to any black square
Use me any time you want
Just remember that the goal
Is for us all to capture all we want, yeah, yeah, yeah
yeah, yeah, yeah

Don't surround yourself with yourself
Move on back two squares
Send an instant karma to me
Initial it with loving care, yourself

'Cause it's time, it's time in time with your time
And its news is captured for the queen to use

Don't surround yourself with yourself
Move on back two squares
Send an instant karma to me
Initial it with loving care

'Cause it's time, it's time in time with your time
And its news is captured for the queen to use

'Cause it's time, it's time in time with your time

Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen, Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov, Raphael Beck/Andreas Heinz and Sam Magee/ Josh Magee

Denmark's first gold medal of the European Games came from the country's world no.2 men's doubles, in the latest instalment of what is becoming one of the continent's great Badminton rivalries.

Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen handed out a 21-8, 21-13 lesson to Russia's Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov, who had beaten the Danes on their way to clinching a European championships gold last year.

The Russian second seeds had been confident of another victory at Baku Sports Hall on Saturday, after the combination of Sozonov's speed and Ivanov's towering presence at the net flattened every previous challenger in Baku.

But Boe and Mogensen had other ideas, their mesmeric movement around the court leaving their world no.11 opponents helplessly sending a series of returns back into the net. The contest was over in just 27 minutes.

Bronze went to Friday's losing semi-finalists, the German pair Raphael Beck and Andreas Heinz, and Sam and Josh Magee of Ireland.

Congrats to all of you.
God bless.

Looking every bit like the no.1 seeds they were, Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva built an impressive lead within minutes of the first set starting against Ekaterina Bolotova and Evgeniya Kosetskaya, boisterously backed by a large Bulgarian crowd.

The second-seed opponents upped their game throughout the opening act, but the Stoevas took the first set comfortably, 21-12. In the second set, the young Russians, aged 22 and 20, managed to pack a little more punch.

Taking an early lead, they challenged their opponents all the way, even surviving four match points when the Stoeva sisters had reeled them back in.

On the fifth championship point, however, Gabriela Stoeva's smash proved to be too much.

In winning the first gold of the badminton event at Baku Sports Hall, Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva have also secured their home country its first gold of the European Games. Up until the sisters' success, Bulgaria had managed to get three silver and five bronze medals.

Badminton bronze in the women's doubles went to the two duos who were on the losing end of the semi-finals: Turkey's Neslihan Yigit and Ozge Bayrak, and Denmark's Lena Grebak and Maria Helsbol.

Congrats to all of you.

Team Poland posted June 25, 2015

Poland booked their place in the women's Volleyball gold medal match on Thursday night – but they did it the hard way.

Serbia twice came from behind to level the match at 1-1 and 2-2, before the Poles progressed by winning the tiebreaker 15-12.

"I think in our country everyone is saying that we create horror movies every game because we could finish in three or four and we just like to play tie breaks," said Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata, who scored 15 points.

The opening set was close, with a kill from Anna Werblinska decisive as Poland won 25-23.

After Sebia had fought level by taking the second set 25-20, the match swung back in favour of Poland in the next, Werblinska serving an ace to make it 25-19.

Serbia triumphed 25-22 in a tight fourth set but in the tie-break Katarzyna Zaroslinska's high scoring led the Poles home.

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic described Poland as the most complete team in the tournament, adding: "It was a very difficult game for us, especially after the game against Belgium (in the quarter-finals). That was also five sets so it was very difficult. I don't think my team had recovered 100 per cent."

Poland will play the winners of Thursday night's semi-final between Azerbaijan and Turkey in Saturday's final.

Italy, Romania plus Others posted June 21, 2015

*Of course, we already know who is the Champion.
*God bless.

Italy crashed out of the women's European Games Volleyball competition after being swept by Romania, who registered their first win of the competition.

The Italians had a chance of reaching the quarter-finals if they beat Romania 3-0, but the tables were turned as they delivered a below-par performance.

Romania, by contrast, were good value for the win, taking the three sets 25-23, 25-16 and 25-21.

Italy’s loss means Belgium have secured their place in the quarter-finals, advancing from Pool A along with Azerbaijan, Poland and Turkey.

“It’s good to finally win. It’s been disappointing for us to lose so many games”, said Romania’s Nneka Onyejekwe. “We have had a good experience here in Azerbaijan, but if we had won more games it would have been much better.”

Italian head coach Fabio Soli said he was disappointed that his team failed to seize their opportunity to progress. "I hope this experience will be a lesson for the girls and for me," he said.

Germany, meanwhile, cemented a third-place Pool B finish by sweeping aside Croatia.

Croatia libero Nikolina Bozicevic said: “We are disappointed, but this is sport. We are a young team, but we will take some inspiration from this on how to be better players. We have tried hard and given our best.”

The Netherlands, Serbia and Russia are the other qualifiers from Pool B. The quarter-finals start on Tuesday at 10:00.

Turks triumph over Poland in final, Serbia beat Azerbaijan to bronze

Turkey won the Baku 2015 European Games women's Volleyball gold medal by defeating Poland in the final on Saturday night in straight sets at Crystal Hall 1, running out 25-11, 25-19, 25-13 victors.

Turkey's Neriman Ozsoy said afterwards: "I'm really happy for all our players. I want to congratulate them because they played really well at some important moments.

"They all played with the Turkish flag in their hearts. Poland are all really good players, but they didn't play their best volleyball today."

Earlier on, Serbia twice came from behind to win the bronze medal match against Azerbaijan 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-14, 15-9).

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic said: "Believe me, for us, the semi-final was a big success. We came to this competition without nine players from last season, almost a whole team. A lot of very young players, players who've never played this kind of competition. It was a very good experience for them."

After an even contest, Azerbaijan crumbled in the fourth set as Serbia set up a tiebreaker fifth set that was decided by Milena Rasic quick reactions at the net to kill the ball.

Terzic added: "Azerbaijan played extremely well in the competition. We played very well with a lot of courage."

Congrats to all of you.

Karine Le Marchand

Caroline Receveur Par L.P. (Not suitable for kids)

EASTBOURNE, England (AP) -- Caroline Wozniacki reached the Eastbourne semifinals for the third consecutive year by beating Andrea Petkovic in straight sets, while Agnieszka Radwanska also won easily on Thursday.

The second-seeded Wozniacki won 7-5, 6-1 on a hot day on the south coast, and will next play 18-year-old Swiss Belinda Bencic, who ended Johanna Konta's superb run in her home tournament with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory.

Wozniacki lost in the Eastbourne semifinals in 2013 and '14 - and lost to Bencic in their last meeting, in the last 32 at Indian Wells in March. The Dane hasn't advanced beyond the fourth round in eight attempts at Wimbledon, but is playing herself into some form on the grass of Eastbourne, where she won the title in 2009.

''I'm excited to play tomorrow, to get another semifinal here, and it's nice to have got a few more matches under my belt before Wimbledon,'' said the former top-ranked Wozniacki, who dropped her first three service games against Petkovic.

Konta, a wild card, has been gaining plenty of pre-Wimbledon attention in Britain this week after collecting two wins over players in the top 20, and clinched the first set against Bencic with an ace.

Bencic, a rising star of the women's tour who was watched by compatriot and five-time grand slam singles champion Martina Hingis, dominated after that.

''She definitely stepped up her level - she played very well,'' Konta said. ''I have been struggling with some things this week, and it kind of caught up (with) me today.''

Radwanska, a former Wimbledon finalist, beat Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria 6-2, 6-2 to reach the semifinals of a grass event for the second time in three weeks, after doing so at Nottingham.

The ninth seed set up a match against Sloane Stephens, the American who had a walkover after Russian opponent Daria Gavrilova pulled out with a stomach injury.

''I woke up this morning and thought it would be fine but I tested it in practice and felt some pain,'' Gavrilova said. ''It isn't good enough to play a player like Sloane, where you need to be 100 percent.''

All the best Caroline. God bless.

Poland and Bulgaria

Poland and Bulgaria will meet in the Baku 2015 European Games men's volleyball semi-finals to battle for a place in the gold medal match.

The Pool A table-toppers Poland swept past Slovakia (25-16, 25-23, 25-19) in a powerful performance that perfectly showcased the team's strength and ability.

Poland have now won all six of their games and will go into their semi-final against the Bulgarians full of confidence.

"Of course, when you start winning all the time, you feel good. We feel confident,” said Dawid Konarski after the triumph. "We have good team spirit, we feel good together. We feel good physically and mentally. I hope that will remain.”

Konarski said he was focused on his own team and not his opponents ahead of the semi-final and added: "We have time to rest and prepare before we play again. It doesn't matter who we play, we have to play our best volleyball."

After Slovakia failed to advance to the semi-final, a disappointed Marcel Lux said: “We failed in serve and attack. We wanted to be among the four best teams, but we couldn't make it.”

In the second quarter-final, Bulgaria, who finished in third place in Pool B, were worthy winners of their game against Turkey, 3-1.

Turkey claimed the first set 26-24, but the Bulgarians recovered their composure to take the next three sets 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.

"We lost the first set, maybe because we were anxious. We wanted to show we were the best team but we made a few mistakes", said Bulgaria captain Todor Aleksiev, who scored 20 points for his team.

"In the end, everything was okay and we showed we were the better team in the last three sets. We are gaining in confidence and playing better with each game.

"Now, I expect a very difficult game with Poland. We will be prepared, we want to get to the final."

The two teams will meet at 17:00 in Crystal Hall 1 on Friday 26 June.

Ms. Laura Antonelli We Salute You

LOLnews

Marvel and Sony have found their Peter Parker.

“The Impossible” actor Tom Holland is set to play the web-slinging superhero in the next “Spider-Man” franchise. Jon Watts (“Cop Car”) will direct the film.

“I’ve worked with a number of up-and-coming directors who have gone on to be superstars and believe that Jon is just such an outstanding talent,” Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group chairman, said in a press release. “For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.”

The actor is first expected to make an appearance in “Captain America: Civil War” in order to properly introduce him into the Marvel film universe, with standalone films to follow on July 28, 2017.

Sony announced a new partnership with Marvel Studios in February that would bring the popular superhero into the Marvel universe.

Former Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal is producing along with Kevin Feige.

The search for who would star in and direct the next installment in the “Spider-Man” series has been a long and interesting one. This was a rare case where execs met with actors and directors at the same time to see who fit the bill.

Rumors had been spreading for months about what direction the new franchise would be taking and whether the studio would cast an unknown actor as its star or find a more established name. They were also deciding whether to hire a young teen or someone a little older who could still pull off being a teen for the next several years.

Feige made it clear that he wanted Peter Parker to become his alter ego while he was still in high school. Sony and Marvel were therefore initially targeting actors between the ages of 14-18.

After underwhelming meetings with unknowns, the search was widened to boys who had somewhat of a proven track record, even at a young age. Asa Butterfield, Charlie Rowe and Matthew Lintz were among the contenders. The studio has been flying them out to Atlanta, where Marvel is filming “Captain America: Civil War,” over the last month to have them test with the actors they would be starring opposite.

Spider-Man is only expected to have a cameo in “Captain America: Civil War,” so there wasn’t a rush to make a decision since the thesp would only be shooting for about a week.

At the same time, meetings were also held with directors that included “St. Vincent” helmer Ted Melfi, “Warm Bodies'” Jonathan Levine, “Vacation’s” John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Not only were these filmmakers who directed films on the comedic side, they were also helmers who directing younger actors with positive results.

Over the last two weeks, the decision was made to cut the list down to Levine, Watts and Melfi for director, and Holland and Rowe for the role of Spider-Man. Sources did not reveal the exact reason why Sony and Marvel chose Holland but as for Watts sources are now saying over the past ten days Levine and Melfi became frustrated with the process and worried this may carry over to the production and pulled themselves out allowing Watts to move in and land the job.

Holland was an established name who not only held his own alongside Ewan McGreggor and Naomi Watts in “The Impossible,” but became the film’s breakout star. He’s also at an age that allows him to play the role of a teenager for years to come. Insiders said that at the end of the day, the studio could not afford to run into problems revolving around child labor laws that restrict the lengths of shoots.

As for Watts, while he wasn’t quite as well known as the other directors, his recent work on the film “Cop Car” earned him rave reviews at Sundance. The movie also showed his ability to get the most out of teenage actors.

Holland is repped by WME and can be seen next in “In the Heart of the Sea” opposite Chris Hemsworth. Watts is repped by CAA and attorney Greg Slewett.

Not all non-human animal dads are cut out for family life, but there are a number of species who have become known for their role as fathers who deserve a salute, from giant water bugs who carry dozens of eggs on their backs to males who actually get pregnant and dads who operate solo as single parents. This Father’s Day, it’s time to celebrate some of the amazing dads from the animal kingdom who go above and beyond when it comes raising and protecting their young.

Red Fox
ADVERTISEMENT
Male red foxes aren’t just loving mates, but excited and protective fathers. They take on the task of providing food for their mates every few hours for about a month after she gives birth. Then they take on the role of teacher – but teachers who like to take time out to play. Even when it’s time to get serious and teach their young how to start finding their own food, fox dads help them out and make sure they don’t really go hungry by hiding it near their dens.

Emperor Penguin
After females lay a single precious egg, Emperor penguin dads take over  the responsibility of incubating it by balancing it precariously on their feet and keeping it warm under their feathers in the frigid Antarctic weather while mothers go off to feed. Dads can go for about two months without eating until the egg hatches, at which point he will feed it before mother’s return to give them a break from baby-duty.

Sea Horse
Seahorses, who are also known to mate for life, have reverse roles; the females compete for males, and the males don’t just play a role in pregnancy, but actually get pregnant. Females deposit their eggs in the male’s pouch, where he fertilizes and carries them until tiny baby seahorses emerge fully developed. According to Science Daily, the process of male pregnancy is unique to the fish family Syngnathidae, which also includes pipefish and sea dragons.

Spotted Sandpiper
It doesn’t happen every time, but sandpipers
have been found to reverse roles where female sandpipers establish and defend territory, while taking on multiple male partners. After luring a male to mate with and laying her eggs, she takes off to find another mate. Dad meanwhile stays to incubate the eggs and becomes the primary caregiver for the young for the first few weeks of their lives.

Gray Wolf

Despite the myths surrounding wolves that make them out to be villains, alpha male are loving, loyal and protective mates, fathers and leaders. Also known to mate for life, males who breed will guard their partners and pups while they’re in the den and take on the responsibility of finding everyone food. Even as pups grow older, dads will take on the role of teacher, helping them learn their role in the pack and the world.

ADVERTISING
Great Horned Owl
Great horned owl dads are the stereotypical breadwinners in their families. After finding the perfect home with their mates, male great horned owls take on the role of provider by hunting enough to feed himself and his mate, who is bigger than he is, before taking on the added responsibility of hunting for their young when they hatch.

North American Beaver
Beaver dads are devoted family men, handymen and providers in the animal world. They mate for life and take on a co-parenting role in raising their young until they’re about 2-years-old, while helping care for them and teaching them how to become successful ecosystem engineers before they go off and start families of their own.
In 2012, a beaver in Martinez, Calif., known as “Dad”  raised fears about what would happen to his young after his mate died from an infection, but he showed us he could do it all as a single father of three.

Titi Monkey
Male titi monkeys, who are known for monogamous relationships, are also known for the strong bond they build with their young as primary caregivers. Except for time spent with mom nursing, babies spend the rest of their time being carried around, cared for and protected by their fathers for the first few months of their lives.

Rhea
As members of a polygamous species, male rheas have a lot of partners, but when it comes to child-rearing these dads pull their weight and then some. Males can have up to a dozen or so female partners who all lay eggs in a nest he builds before they leave. Males then take on the role of incubating and guarding what can be more than 50 eggs for close to two months before taking on the role of a single parent after they hatch. Males have also been known to adopt orphaned chicks who have been separated from their brood.

Darwins Frog
Darwin’s frog dads, who are native to South America, have come up with a neat and bizarre way to protect their offspring from predators. While they breed like other amphibians, where females lay eggs in the water that are fertilized by males, the males of this species take the fertilized eggs into their mouths, store them in their vocal sacs and keep them there until they’re fully developed frogs — at which point he throws them up.

Prinz Charles (spot on news)

Jérémy Frérot and Laure Manaudou :

Anna Fenninger by Eric Willemsen, The Associated Press

VIENNA - Overall World Cup champion Anna Fenninger remained in the national team after she agreed to abide by sponsorship regulations, the Austrian ski federation said on Thursday.

"Anna has promised to observe all rules," Federation President Peter Schroecksnadel said on the day of Fenninger's 26th birthday.

This week, she appeared in an advertising campaign for Mercedes, a rival brand of one of the governing body's main sponsors, Audi.

Austrian skiers are allowed individual commercial deals only when they do not conflict with the governing body's interests. Breaching the rules can lead to expulsion from the federation.

If Fenninger had not agreed, she would still have been granted a license by the federation to compete for Austria, but she would have had to arrange and finance her own coaching and medical staff.

Schroecksnadel, who called Fenninger a "super athlete, a national hero," regarded her German manager Klaus Kaercher as the instigator for the ongoing quarrel about commercial rights, adding the federation had broken all ties with him.

"I don't want to have to deal with him ever again," Schroecksnadel said.

A spokesman for Fenninger said the skier wouldn't comment on the issue for at least the next three days, but her management later released a statement, saying "Anna Fenninger will still be represented and managed by the Vitesse Kaercher agency."

Schroecksnadel said he met with Fenninger in an attempt to clear the air on Wednesday. The meeting was arranged by Rainer Salzgeber, race director with Fenninger's equipment supplier, Head.

"Salzgeber knew it was important that Anna remained part of the team," Schroecksnadel said. "Without the federation's facilities and without good training, Anna wouldn't be able to get the same results she has been getting for years now."

Schroecksnadel said Fenninger also apologized for firmly criticizing the president in a posting on her Facebook page late Tuesday.

Fenninger and the federation had been quarreling for months about the skier's manager, and about her wish to have one of the team physicians working exclusively for her. Fenninger quit a national training camp in Cyprus in May, and even threatened to leave the federation if she was forced into parting ways with Kaercher.

After a meeting last week, which Schroecksnadel didn't attend, both parties released a joint statement saying they reached an agreement to share the costs for additional physiotherapy staff, and that "existing misunderstandings and communication problems have been disposed once and for all."

On Monday, however, the disputed car ad appeared in an Austrian weekly magazine. Since then, Mercedes said it has ceased the campaign.

Fenninger has won four gold medals and eight in total at Olympics and world championships. She has won 14 World Cups, and been overall champion in the past two seasons.

All the best Anna. God bless.

Sir Paul McCartney, Mr. Nigel Godrich, Mr. Pedro Eustache plus Others---- Too much rain

Laugh when your eyes are burning
Smile when your heart is filled with pain
Sigh as you brush away your sorrow
Make a vow, that it's not gonna happen again

It's not right, in one life
Too much rain

You know the wheels keep turning
Why do the tears run down your face?
We use to hide away our feelings
But for now, tell yourself it won't happen again

It's not right, in one life
Too much rain

It's too much for anyone
Too hard for anyone
Who wants a happy and peaceful life
You've gotta learn to laugh

Smile when you're spinning round and round
Sigh as you think about tomorrow
Make a vow, that you're gonna be happy again

It's all right, in your life
No more rain

It's too much for anyone
Too hard for anyone
Who wants a happy and peaceful life
You've gotta learn to laugh

Nya Peugeot 308 GTi Av David Jakobsson

Sir Christopher Lee We Salute You

Mr. Johnny Depp has paid tribute to Sir Christopher Lee, saying he was "as noble and gallant as he was wise".

The veteran actor died on Sunday 7 June in London aged 93, after being admitted to hospital for respiratory problems and heart failure.

Depp starred in five films with Sir Christopher, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Dark Shadows.

He described him as "a wonderful man" who was "profoundly kind, generous [and] warm".

"The consummate gentleman. He was an inspiration in both life and art. In the time we spent together, I had the honour and good fortune of being welcomed into his illustrious proximity," Depp said.

"His friendship is one that I will always hold close and dear to my heart.

"He was the last of his kind. A rare specimen. A brilliant mind with a beautiful heart whose strength of spirit will, in turn, live on in the hearts and minds of many, many generations to come."

The pair first shared a screen in 1999's Sleepy Hollow, in which Sir Christopher played the Burgomaster.

The actor also voiced characters in Corpse Bride and Alice in Wonderland. All of the films were directed by Tim Burton.

Burton paid his own tribute last week, saying Sir Christopher had been "an enormous inspiration to me my entire life".

Sir Christopher appeared in more than 250 movies, making his name playing Dracula in the Hammer horror films.

More recently he gained new fans thanks to roles such as wizard Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies, and the lightsaber-wielding Count Dooku in Star Wars Episodes II and III.

Set in equilibrio.

Elodie Frégé and Virginie Ledoyen Par Jade Olivier (Definitely Not suitable for kids) (For Mature Audience only)
