Yes - White Car

I see a man in a white car
Move like a ghost on the skyline
Take all your dreams
And you throw them away
Man in a white car

Volvo

Aktiebolaget Volvo is a Swedish multinational manufacturing company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. Its principal activity is the production, distribution and sale of trucks, buses, and construction equipment. Volvo also supplies marine and industrial drive systems, and provides financial services. Although Volvo was established in 1915 as a subsidiary of AB SKF, a Swedish ball bearing manufacturer, the auto manufacturer considers itself officially founded on 14 April 1927, when the first car, the Volvo ÖV 4 series, affectionately known as "Jakob", rolled out of the factory in Hisingen, Gothenburg.[2]

Volvo means "I roll" in Latin, conjugated from "volvere", in relation to ball bearing. The name Volvo was originally registered in May 1911 as a separate company within SKF AB and as a registered trademark with the intention to be used for a special series of ball bearing. This idea was only used for a short period of time and SKF decided to use "SKF" as the trademark for all its bearing products.

In 1924, Assar Gabrielsson, an SKF Sales Manager, and Engineer Gustav Larson, the two founders, decided to start construction of a Swedish car. Their vision was to build cars that could withstand the rigors of Sweden's rough roads and cold temperatures.[3]

The company AB Volvo had no activities until 10 August 1926. After one year of preparations involving the production of ten prototypes, was set up to carry out the car-manufacturing business within the SKF group. AB Volvo was introduced at the Stockholm stock exchange in 1935 and SKF then decided to sell its shares in the company. Volvo was delisted from NASDAQ in June 2007, but remains listed on the Stockholm exchange.[4]

In 1999, Volvo sold its car division Volvo Cars to Ford Motor Company for $6.45 billion. The Volvo trademark was shared between AB Volvo, where it is used on heavy vehicles, and the unit of Ford, where it was used on cars. Volvo stopped posting profits in 2005, and in 2008, Ford decided to sell its interest in Volvo Cars.

In August 2010, Ford completed its sale of Volvo Cars to the Chinese motor manufacturer Geely Automobile (Zhejiang Geely Holding Group) for $1.8 billion.[5][6]

History

The Volvo Group has its origin in 1927 when the first Volvo car rolled off the production line at the factory in Gothenburg.[7] Only 280 cars were built that year.[8] The first truck, the "Series 1", debuted in January 1928, as an immediate success and attracted attention outside the country.[9] In 1930, Volvo sold 639 cars,[8] and the export of trucks to Europe started soon after; the cars did not become well-known outside Sweden until after World War II.[8]

Pentaverken, who had manufactured engines for Volvo, was acquired in 1935, providing a secure supply of engines and entry into the marine engine market.[10]

The first bus, named B1, was launched in 1934, and aircraft engines were added to the growing range of products at the beginning of the 1940s. In 1963, Volvo opened the Volvo Halifax Assembly plant, the first assembly plant in the company's history outside of Sweden in Halifax, Canada. In 1999, the European Union blocked a merger with Scania AB.

Volvo Group sold its car division Volvo Car Corporation to Ford Motor Company for $6.45 billion during 2000, it was placed within the Premier Automotive Group alongside Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin. Volvo engineering resources and components would be used in various Ford, Land Rover and Aston Martin products, with the second generation Land Rover Freelander designed on the same platform as the second generation Volvo S80. The Volvo T5 petrol engine was used in the Ford Focus ST and RS performance models, and Volvo's satellite navigation system was used on certain Aston Martin Vanquish, DB9 and V8 Vantage models.[11][12][13]

Ford sold the Volvo Car Corporation in 2010 to Geely Automobile of China for $1.8 billion, following on from their sale of Jaguar Land Rover in 2008 and Aston Martin in 2007.[14]

Renault Véhicules Industriels (which included Mack Trucks, but not Renault's stake in Irisbus) was sold to Volvo during January 2001, Volvo renamed it Renault Trucks in 2002. Renault became AB Volvo's biggest shareholder with a 19.9% stake (in shares and voting rights) as part of the deal.[15] Renault increased its shareholding to 21.7% by 2010.[16]

AB Volvo acquired 13% of the shares in the Japanese truck manufacturer UD Trucks (the former Nissan Diesel) from Nissan Motor Co Ltd (part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance) during 2006 becoming a major shareholder. Volvo Group took complete ownership of Nissan Diesel in 2007 to extend its presence in the Asian Pacific market.[3][17]

Renault sold 14.9% of their stake in AB Volvo in October 2010 (comprising 14.9% of the share capital and 3.8% of the voting rights) for €3.02bn. This share sale left Renault with around 17.5% of Volvo's voting rights.[16] Renault sold their remaining shares in December 2012 (comprising 6.5% of the share capital and 17.2% of the voting rights at the time of transaction) for €1.6bn, leaving Swedish industrial investment group Aktiebolaget Industrivärden as the largest shareholder, with 6.2% of the share capital and 18.7% of the voting rights.[18][19]

Volvo Group's operations include:

Trademark

Volvo Trademark Holding AB is equally owned by AB Volvo and Volvo Car Corporation.[20]

The main activity of the company is to own, maintain, protect and preserve the Volvo trademarks (including Volvo, the Volvo device marks (grille slash & iron mark) Volvo Aero and Volvo Penta) on behalf of its owners and to license these rights to its owners. The day-to-day work is focused upon maintaining the global portfolio of trademark registrations and to extend sufficiently the scope of the registered protection for the Volvo trademarks.

The main business is also to act against unauthorised registration and use (including counterfeiting) of trademarks identical or similar to the Volvo trademarks on a global basis.[21]

”Black Friday”

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band--Colorado Christmas

Looking out the window of this Hollywood hotel
You'd never know that it was Christmas Eve
The billboards and the neon took the place of silver bells
And the temperature is eighty-four degrees

I can hear the traffic on the crowded strip below
As the palm trees poke their heads above the scene
But there's not a single reindeer and it hardly ever snows
And Santa drives a Rolls Royce limousine

But all along the Rockies you can feel it in the air
From Telluride to Boulder down below
The closest thing to heaven on this planet anywhere
Is a quiet Christmas morning in the Colorado snow

I remember Christmases when I was just a boy
In the morning I would run to see the tree
And the carolers on the hillside sang their songs of Christmas joy
Well, I always thought they sang them just for me

Now the sun is setting in the California sky
And I can't find the spirit anywhere
So I think it's time for me to tell Los Angeles goodbye
I'm going back home to look for Christmas there

But all along the Rockies you can feel it in the air
From Telluride to Boulder down below
The closest thing to heaven on this planet anywhere
Is a quiet Christmas morning in the Colorado snow

Is a quiet Christmas morning in the Colorado snow

DINAMO MOSCA - FUTURA BUSTO ARSIZIO 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-19)

Morozova attacca e colpisce col servizio (11-7), ma la solita Diouf recupera (11-9) e Pisani (ace) riporta Busto Arsizio a -1 (12-11 time out Dinamo).

Terzo set: Busto è molto fallosa in partenza (6-4).

Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender by Ali Jaafar

Natalie Portman is in talks to join Universal’s Steve Jobs biopic. Character details were not revealed, but it is expected to be a major role. Should a deal get done, the Oscar winner’s casting would mark another positive reversal of fortune for the Danny Boyle-helmed project. Deadline revealed last week that it had been put in turnaround by Sony Pictures, to the shock of many in the industry. Universal picked it up Monday.

Michael Fassbender is being courted to play the Apple genius in the Aaron Sorkin-scripted film, adapted from Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography Steve Jobs. The film is produced by Scott Rudin, Christian Colson, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.

Portman, repped stateside by CAA, has been particularly busy of late. The actress-turned-filmmaker is in post on her feature directorial debut A Tale Of Love And Darkness, an adaptation of celebrated Israeli writer Amos Oz’s memoir, in which she also stars. She is a producer on Burr Steers’ Jane Austen/undead mash-up Pride And Prejudice And Zombies and stars in Gavin O’Connor’s upcoming Jane Got A Gun and a pair of Terrence Malick pictures.

That's great. Take care Natalie.

God bless both of you.

Star Wars(spoiler) by LILY HARRISON

Something major is coming your way on Thanksgiving…
J.J. Abrams just announced that fans will get a quick glimpse at the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the holiday in select theaters.
In a tweet he posted, showing off a handwritten note from his own personal stationery, Abrams revealed that Star Wars fanatics will get "a tiny peek at what we're working on."
He added, "Hope you enjoy and have a most excellent Thanksgiving."
And besides the major announcement, Abrams divulged that the teaser clip will be all of 88 seconds. Yep, that's right. It'll be a blink-and-you-may-miss-it moment that you'll surely want to savor.
So far, there's been a huge shroud of secrecy following the film, save for a few alleged leaks here and there.

Like this potential spoiler: According to Badass Digest, the new movie will begin with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega's characters discovering Luke Skywalker's severed hand 30 years after Return of the Jedi ends.
The two then link up with Han Solo and Chewbacca to track down the Jedi master. But again, this is all a rumor as of now…
What we do know for certain is who we can expect to see on the big screen.
Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are all set to make their return and will join Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow and last, but certainly not least, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o.
A tentative release date is scheduled for Dec. 18, 2015.

DINAMO KRASNODAR - AGIL NOVARA 3-2 (25-21, 17-25, 27-25, 19-25, 15-8)

source:volleyball.it/foto Rubin/Lvf

DINAMO KRASNODAR - AGIL NOVARA 3-2 (25-21, 17-25, 27-25, 19-25, 15-8)

DINAMO KRASNODAR : Almeida De Sousa Alves 5, Shashkova 15, Kryuchkova (L), Krivets, Kosheleva 16, Kalderon Dias 4, Filishtinskaya, Pasynkova, Garay Rodrigues 17, Dianskaya 9, Podskalnaya 14. Non entrati Bibina. All. Ushakov.
AGIL VOLLEY NOVARA : Partenio 5, Klineman 21, Kim 2, Guiggi 4, Bonifacio 4, Chirichella 11, Sansonna (L), Alberti, Signorile 2, Hill 16, Barun 10, Zanette 3. All. Pedulla'. ARBITRI: Tillmann - Emiroglu .
NOTE - durata set: 27', 24', 29', 26', 14'; tot: 0'. Dinamo KRASNODAR : Battute errate 10, Ace 7. NOVARA : Battute errate 16, Ace 14.

Siamo stati bravi a rimanere sempre in partita, a lottare.

Kristin Scott Thomas by Frances Perraudin posted 31 October 2014

Kristin Scott Thomas will play the role of the Queen in a new version of Peter Morgan’s West End hit The Audience next year.

The role was originally played by Helen Mirren at the Gielgud Theatre in 2013 and won her an Olivier award for best actress. Scott Thomas’s version will open at the Apollo theatre on 5 May 2015, while Mirren stars in the role on Broadway.

Kristin Scott Thomas is receiving enthusiastic reviews for her performance in the Sophocles tragedy Electra at the Old Vic. Her career across stage and screen has spanned three decades, with memorable roles in Richard Curtis’s Four Weddings and a Funeral and Anthony Minghella’s The English Patient.

The Audience charts the second Elizabethan Age, from the beginning of the Queen’s reign in 1952 to her Diamond jubilee in 2012. It imagines a series of critical meetings between various UK prime ministers and the Queen over her 60-year reign. Prime ministers from Churchill to Cameron use their private audiences with the monarch to confess their worries and talk through the country’s problems. As prime ministers come and go, the Queen stays constant, ready to welcome the next incumbent.

Playwright Peter Morgan is reportedly considering updating the play to include Tony Blair.

Morgan is perhaps best known for writing the screenplays for the films Frost/Nixon and Stephen Frears’ The Queen, which also starred Mirren.

Mr. Gordon Lightfoot - Carefree Highway

Picking up the pieces of my sweet shattered dream
I wonder how the old folks are tonight
Her name was Ann and I'll be _____ if I recall her face
She left me not knowing what to do

Carefree highway, let me slip away on you
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The morning after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway, let me slip away, slip away on you

Turning back the pages to the times I love best
I wonder if she'll ever do the same
Now the thing that I call living is just being satisfied
With knowing I got no one left to blame

Carefree highway, I got to see you my old flame
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The morning after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway, let me slip away, slip away on you

Searching through the fragments of my dream shattered sleep
I wonder if the years have closed her mind
I guess it must be wanderlust or trying to get free
From the good old faithful feeling we once knew

Carefree highway, let me slip away on you
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The morning after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway, let me slip away, slip away on you
Let me slip away on you

Carefree highway, I got to see you my old flame
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The morning after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway, let me slip away, slip away on you

Mr. Michael Schumacher

Please continue praying for Mr. Michael Schumacher.

Greece posted Nov. 21, 2014 (The Associated Press)

ATHENS, Greece – Greece’s government on Friday submitted its 2015 budget to Parliament, sticking with high-growth and low-deficit predictions that rescue lenders say are too rosy.

The budget leaves forecasts made in a draft last month unchanged, estimating the economy will grow by 2.9 per cent in 2015, after the country emerged from a six-year recession this year.

The budget projects Greece’s primary surplus — state income without taking into account interest payments on outstanding debt — will be 3 per cent of gross domestic product. It sees the deficit narrowing to 0.2 per cent of GDP next year, from 1.3 per cent this year and 1.6 per cent in 2013.

Deputy Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said the government stuck to its deficit projection despite disagreement from rescue lenders, but gave no further details.

“They have a different estimation, and they see a budget shortfall, which we do not,” he said.

The budget also comes amid a disagreement between Greece and international creditors on remaining reforms before part of its bailout program ends this year. The dispute has delayed the return to Athens of bailout inspectors.

In Brussels, European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said negotiations were ongoing.

“Significant progress has been made on several important issues. Those discussions are continuing today, so that our team can return to Athens,” he said.

Greece has relied on bailout funds from other eurozone countries and the International Monetary Fund since 2010. In return, it had to impose stringent spending cuts and tax hikes.

Unions are planning a general strike next Thursday against the ongoing austerity measures.

Please continue praying for Greece.

God help them.

Scottish Baftas by Brian Ferguson

LEADING actors James McAvoy and David Tennant were among the main winners in this year’s Scottish film and TV Oscars, with prison drama Starred Up ousting box office hits Filth and Sunshine on Leith to be named best film.

Gritty and controversial films and TV series dominated this year’s BAFTA Scotland Awards, which saw a host of stars head down the red carpet outside the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.

McAvoy, who received his award from David Hayman, who inspired him to take up acting after visiting his school, was honoured for his role as corrupt Scottish detective Bruce Robertson in the big-screen adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s novel Filth.

McAvoy said: “When actors are lucky enough to get work their worry starts to become: ‘will I get anything as good as that again?’

“I played Macbeth and I did Bruce in the one year and it’s made it quite difficult for me, as I don’t know what to do after that. Maybe I need to deal with the fact that I will never get anything as interesting as that again. I don’t even mean for the audience, I mean just for myself.

“Bruce came easier than any other part I’ve played, which is terrifying, because he is a demon, he is a proper son of Satan, although the truth he is just like any one of us who has gone horrendously bad. I actually loved him.”

McAvoy could not resist a dig at English actor Jack O’Connell, Starred Up’s lead actor and one of his rivals for the best actor honour, along with Sunshine on Leith star Peter Mullan.

He said: “It’s a proper relief, as it would have been well embarrassing to lose it to an English guy that made a film in Belfast, although he is brilliant.”

Harry Potter star Shirley Henderson, one of McAvoy’s co-stars in Filth, was honoured for her role as a grief-stricken social worker in Southcliffe, a Channel 4 drama about the aftermath of a spate of shootings in a small town.

Henderson said: “The programme was an extraordinary piece of writing and a really difficult character because of where she was in her life at the time. It felt like a very powerful piece of work when I read the script and was thrilled to be a part of it.”

Dr Who star Tennant was named best TV actor for his starring role in legal thriller The Escape Artist, in which he plays a barrister whose family is stalked by the suspect in a murder case after he is acquitted on a technicality.

He said: “You win these prizes sometimes for not necessarily being the best, but landing the best job. At least half of this belongs to the writer, David Wolstencroft.

“As Scots, we are not known for our sentimentality. Maybe I’ve gone soft because I’ve been in London for a while, but this really means an awful lot.”

Relative newcomer Sophie Kennedy Clark, who first came to prominence when she starred alongside Tennant in TV drama series Single Father, was named best film actress for her role in the Oscar-nominated drama Philomena. In the film, which was based on a true story, she played a younger version of Dame Judi Dench’s character, who tries to find her son more than 50 years after having to give him up for adoption.

The 24-year-old recently starred alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg and Uma Thurman in Lars von Trier’s erotic drama Nymphomaniac, and has just filmed a British new military drama with Stephen Fry.

She said: “As Philomena Lee herself was heavily present on set almost all the time I was acutely aware I was playing part of her life.

“There were times when we were filming and I was aware that she was crying behind the monitor. It was heart-wrenching.”

There was triple glory at the awards for Starred Up, which has already won huge plaudits for the powerful performance of Jack O’Connell, who plays a high-risk young offender who is moved to an adult prison only to be confronted by his father.

A star of the British teen TV drama Skins, O’Connell was recently on cinema screens in ‘71, the thriller set in Belfast at the height of the “Troubles” penned by Black Watch writer Gregory Burke.

Along with the best film honour, Starred Up also saw David Mackenzie - the Scot behind films like Young Adam, Hallam Foe and Perfect Sense - win the award for best film and TV director and Jonathan Asser, a former poet and psychotherapist, claim the best writer honour with his first full-length screenplay.

Jude MacLaverty, director of BAFTA Scotland, defended its decision to give Starred Up - which was filmed in Belfast - multiple nominations, while Under The Skin, the acclaimed science fiction drama which Scarlett Johansson made in Scotland, was snubbed, despite the academy relaxing its rules several years ago to help recognise more productions and talent.

She told The Scotsman: “We would have loved to have included Under The Skin. We did investigate it with the funders, Creative Scotland, and the film’s producers.

“However it just didn’t meet enough of our eligibility criteria over key talent, funding and having a substantive base in Scotland.

“Starred Up is very much a Scottish film, with a Scottish director in David Mackenzie and it simply met more of the criteria.”

Other major winners on the night include the hit children’s show Katie Morag, which was adapted from Mairi Hedderwick’s best-selling books and is filmed on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebride for CBeebies.

Two of BBC Scotland’s flagship programmes, Limmy’s Show and Mrs Brown’s Boys, lost out on the coveted comedy/entertainment award to a one-off pilot, Miller’s Mountain, about a ragtag band of mountain rescue volunteers, which starred Jimmy Chisholm, Kevin Guthrie, Sharon Rooney and Jonathan Watson.

Guthrie, who will be starring in the big-screen adaptation of Sunset Song next year, said: “I believe Miller’s Mountain is going to a series early next year, so it will have a life beyond the pilot.”

We’re still waiting on flying cars, but there is serious innovation in the auto world. Tesla’s electric cars and Google’s self-driving cars are changing the way we think about driving, but so far these technologies have been elusive—banned in the U.S. or reserved for the 1%.

Ford CEO Mark Fields wants to change that. “Clearly we have the capability to create electric vehicles,” he tells Yahoo Finance's Bianna Golodryga in the associated video. Ford is currently ranked number two in the electric market and has released the popular Ford Focus, which was ranked as the most fuel-efficient compact car sold within the United States.

“Tesla (TSLA) has done a very good job of bringing electrified cars into the consciousness of the American people,” he says, but “Tesla’s approach is to cater to a high-end consumer.” Ford’s approach, according to Fields, will be to make electrified vehicles “attainable to the masses.”

Fields claims that Ford has no interest in buying Tesla, despite a slew of rumors that Ford and GM were both pursuing the company.

When it comes to driverless cars, there seem to be legal roadblocks popping up all over America. The FBI and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have also expressed concerns over the self-driving vehicles. Meanwhile, the UK will allow the cars on roads starting in January. So is the U.S. falling behind the curve? “Overall, when you think of autonomous vehicles you’ll see driver-assisted technologies migrate across our entire lineup over time,” he says.

Fields isn’t concerned about America’s slow pace in adopting these technologies. He believes we’re still researching, sensor-detectors are still improving and infrastructure is still being built. “Our approach at Ford is to look at this as an opportunity for us going forward and that’s exactly how we’re going to look at it.”

Director Mike Nichols We Salute You

by The Deadline Team

Legendary film and theater director, writer and producer Mike Nichols has passed away. An Oscar winner for 1967′s seminal The Graduate, he also was nominated for such films as Working Girl, Silkwood and Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? For his stage work, he amassed 10 Tony Awards including as director for such plays as Barefoot In The Park, The Odd Couple, The Prisoner Of Second Avenue and Death Of A Salesman; and as producer of Annie and The Real Thing.

“William Goldman said there were two great American film directors—Elia Kazan and Mike Nichols,” said Broadway producer Emanuel Azenberg, who co-produced Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing with Nichols, who also staged ythe play’s Tony-winning Broadway edition with Glenn Close and Jeremy Irons. “I think that’s true. He was a giant who could convince people to be better than they were.”

Nichols died suddenly late Wednesday night at 83 and his passing was announced on Thursday morning by ABC News President James Goldston. Nichols was married to ABC News Anchor Diane Sawyer. Goldston said this morning, “He was a true visionary, winning the highest honors in the arts for his work as a director, writer, producer and comic and was one of a tiny few to win the EGOT — an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony in his lifetime. No one was more passionate about his craft than Mike… Mike and Diane were married for 26 years. He leaves behind three children — Daisy, Max and Jenny — and four wonderful grandchildren… The family will hold a small, private service this week, and a memorial will be held at a later date.”

Nichols’ last film as director was 2007′s Charlie Wilson’s War with Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman. In 2012, he staged a Tony-winning revival of Death Of A Salesman with Hoffman as Willy Loman. At the time of his death, he was working on an adaptation of Terrence McNally’s Tony-winning play about Maria Callas, Master Class, for HBO.
Nichols was an “extraordinary talent. Consummate gentleman. One of the legends,” HBO CEO Richard Plepler said this morning. “Legend is often overused, but he was a legend and most importantly he was unbelievably decent and had time for everybody, mentored a lot of young talent. That is a vacuum that will not be filled.”

Steven Spielberg weighed in on Nichols’ passing this morning with the following statement to Deadline:

“Mike was a friend, a muse, a mentor, one of America’s all time greatest film and stage directors, and one of the most generous people I have ever known. For me, The Graduate was life altering — both as an experience at the movies as well as a master class about how to stage a scene. Mike had a brilliant cinematic eye and uncanny hearing for keeping scenes ironic and real. Actors never gave him less than their personal best — and then Mike would get from them even more. And in a room full of people, Mike was always the center of gravity. This is a seismic loss.”

Nichols was born in Germany in 1931 and moved to the U.S. with his family at age seven. He pursued theater while attending the University of Chicago in the early 1950s. Although he was studying medicine, his true calling was comedy. He met Elaine May in Chicago and the pair formed a legendary comedy duo, winning a Grammy in 1962 for Best Comedy Album.

In 1964, he directed Barefoot In The Park on Broadway, and followed that up with The Odd Couple in 1965. His first film as director was Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? in 1966 which won five Oscars including Best Actress for Elizabeth Taylor. He followed that up the next year with The Graduate, putting Dustin Hoffman on the map and earning seven Oscar nominations. Nichols won his first Oscar for directing the film. In the early 70s, he helmed Carnal Knowledge and in the 80s made a string of now classic movies that includes Silkwood, Heartburn and Working Girl. He produced 1993′s Best Picture nominee The Remains Of The Day, and in 1996 transferred The Birdcage to film with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane starring.
