Why You Didn’t Get the Job (Personal Branding Blog)

Sometimes things don’t go according to the plan. You may feel that you have nailed the interview but in the end, learn that you didn’t get the job. There may be a lot of reasons why you didn’t get the job and got passed up for someone else. It is always recommended to ask the recruiter why you have been rejected so that you can better prepare for your next interviews. However, you may not always get a helpful feedback and instead, can only end up with a generic answer.

There may be things which are beyond your control and have absolutely nothing to do with your qualifications or interviewing skills but often there are things you might do differently to get the job you have been dreaming of. Below are some of the reasons why you didn’t get the job.

1. They hired a previous employee or someone who is working in another department: Hiring someone they already knew or already working in the organization is less risky for the hiring manager because that person knows the company culture and how the business is going internally. Therefore, he can learn the responsibilities of the job quicker compared to someone else who is totally new to the company.

2. You are not a good fit for the company or the team: There is nothing you can do about this. Some click better with others and some don’t. This doesn’t mean that you don’t have a good personality or you are not friendly towards new people. It only means that the chemistry didn’t work between you and the hiring manager. Since the hiring manager will be working with the new employee, he will prefer someone else whose connection click better with his.

3. You were not prepared well enough: You were just not that prepared and someone else was! Maybe you didn’t look at the company website enough or didn’t google the interviewer or simply didn’t study for the answers of the most asked interview questions. In this case, for your next interview, definitely make some practice with a friend and be prepared to discuss your accomplishments and why you are interested in this position plus working for this company.

4. Budgeting issues: If you ask for a salary that is out of their budget, they cannot hire you even if they want to. It is always good to ask their salary range first and then tell the salary you wish to receive only if they mention salaries during the interview. Otherwise, don’t mention anything related to salaries until you are extended an offer. Moreover, sometimes the budget for the job may get cancelled due to unexpected events such as a sales drop or a company acquisition, etc. In this case, there is nothing you can do to change the situation.

Booked: Samaris, Maonlas.

Goal: Sokrats 90+1min.

Referee: Benjamin Williams (Australia)

Brave Costa Rica held out with 10-men to reach their first ever World Cup quarter-finals after edging out Greece 5-3 on penalties following late drama in Recife.

Neither team was expected to reach the knockout stages of the tournament, and after this tepid first-half performance it was not difficult to understand why.

An uninspiring opening saw both keepers rendered virtually obsolete before Costa Rica's Keylor Navas pulled off a superb save with his foot to deny Dimitris Salpingidis in what was the most exciting moment of a lacklustre first-half.

Ireland Baldwin (Not suitable for kids)

source:es.celebrity.yahoo.com

Por Paquilla la cotilla | Cotiyahoos (Not suitable for kids)

Madison Keys by Matt Trollope

American teen Madison Keys has been forced to withdraw from her third round match with Yaroslava Shvedova with a left thigh injury.

The match was suspended due to fading light on Saturday night, with Shvedova leading 7-6(7), 6-6.

Keys received treatment for the injury late in the second set, yet was unable to recover in time for the resumption of the match on Monday.

“So sorry I couldn't go out and finish the match tomorrow. Big good luck to @SlavaSays in the next round!” she tweeted.

In her post-match interview, Keys disclosed: "I have a muscle strain in my adductor. It's not terrible, not really a long recovery time.

"But they were warning me it could get worse, make recovery time even longer."

Keys, a winner at the recent WTA AEGON International grass-court event, was bidding to become the first woman since Jana Navotna in 1998 to complete the Eastbourne-Wimbledon double.

She was riding a winning streak of seven matches.

Her exit means there are no American women remaining in the draw at Wimbledon in 2014.

Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova v Angelique Kerber by Laura Robson

We were all set for a Maria-Serena quarter-final, but the younger Williams sister – and number-one seed, going for her sixth Wimbledon title – surprisingly crashed out late on Friday night. It's rather a disappointment for the purists.

The 32-year-old was defeated by Alizé Cornet, a Frenchwoman who came back after losing the first set in the third-round clash 6-1. It was a weird result, because Serena played so well in her first two rounds, and looked the player to beat.

It makes little sense that Serena has failed to make the second week of any of the grand slams this year – apart from the fourth round in Australia; but even that was way below her usual standard. Fifth-seed Sharapova will not be unhappy though, especially given her poor head-to-head record against Serena which stands at 16-2 against; amazingly the last time she won was on Centre Court at Wimbledon in the 2004.

Now the Russian, 27, faces Angelique Kerber in the forth round on Monday. The German number-nine seed knocked out my friend Heather Watson on Friday, but needed three sets on Centre Court, winning 6-2 5-7 6-1. I never like playing fellow lefties, and right-handed Maria will have to alter her range slightly, too.

IBM's SlamTracker suggests that against Maria, Angelique's most success will come from winning at least 51 per cent of the four-to-nine shot rallies. Even though she doesn’t strike the ball all that powerfully, It’s really tough to hit an outright winner against her and the 26-year-old has won 74 per cent of the 167 sets analysed when she has managed to achieved that key.

When you watch Angelique she hits the ball so awkwardly, but it has a knack of always going in. She gets a lot of balls back and hits plenty of deep ground strokes. I’m sure Maria will see that as a challenge and aim to keep the rallies short, looking to dominate from the off with aggressive shots.

Similarly, Angelique does not appear to put a lot in to her serve, but it usually lands in quite a difficult position, and nags at you. And when she wins more that 63 per cent of her points on her first serve she has gained an impressive 73 per cent of her sets, according to SlamTracker. It will be interesting to see how Maria returns on Monday.

I lost 7-6(5) 6-3 to Maria under the roof at Centre Court at the Olympics, and while I don’t think she has changed her game all that much in the two years since, you have to factor in her form and self-belief right now. Earlier in June she won her second French Open and – on the 10th anniversary of her one and only success at Wimbledon – has a real spring in her step, and will be further boosted by her great rival Serena’s shock departure.

As the ultimate professional Maria will not be looking too far ahead, but her quarter looks a fair bit weaker now. (Her determined approach seems to have rubbed off on her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov, too. He has now reached the second week in two grand slams since they have been dating.)

Already she looks like a woman on a mission, and in the third round took little time to dominate Alison Riske 6-3 6-0. I was really impressed by how she altered her serve, taking a while to adjust under the roof and the lights of Centre Court. She blew her American opponent away. And if her first serve is firing it is one of her strongest weapons.

In fact, when she has won 67 per cent of her points on that initial service she has won 83 per cent of 395 sets considered by SlamTracker. I think, if she gets in the zone early doors, she will prove far too strong for Angelique.

Please continue praying for Maria. God bless.

Mr. Bobby Womack We Salute You

Soul legend Bobby Womack has died at the age of 70, his publicist at XL Recordings has confirmed to HitFix.

Womack, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 by The Rolling Stones Ron Wood, was only 16 when he dropped out of school at the urging of mentor Sam Cooke and began recording with his brothers under the name the Valentinos. (Womack later went on to marry and divorce Cooke's widow, Barbra.)

The Valentinos first hit, "Looking for a Love," produced by Cooke, reached No. 8 on Billboard's R&B chart. Its second hit, “It’s All Over Now,” co-written by Womack, later became the Rolling Stones’ second Top 40 hit in the U.S.

Womack continued on as a solo artist, charting 36 songs between 1970 and 1990, including “That’s the Way I Feel About Cha,” “Woman’s Gotta Have It,”” and “If You Think You’re Lonely Now.”

He also wrote songs recorded by a number of artists, including Wilson Pickett and George Benson. An accomplished guitarist, he also played on sessions for everyone from Aretha Franklin to Ray Charles and Dusty Springfield.

In 2012, Womack released "The Bravest Man in the Universe," his first album since 1994's "Resurrection." Revered in England, Womack, who played the Glastonbury Festival in 2013, had worked with Blur's Damon Albarn on the set in London and New York. The album, which won the UK's Q Award for best album in 2012, was re-released June 12 with additional material. Albarn had worked previously with Womack on Albarn's side project, The Gorillaz' 2010 album, "Plastic Beach." Womack appears on the album's hit, "Stylo."

Womack has been on the road, playing both the New Orleans Jazz Festival in May and Bonnaroo, earlier this month. He was slated to start a European tour July 19 in Amsterdam.

The cause of death has not been disclosed. Womack, a diabetic, had been diagnosed with colon cancer in 2012.

Heidi Klum Von CF

Australia, USA and Canada posted June 15, 2014

Myslowice, Poland, June 15, 2014 - Nicole Laird and Mariafe Artacho had to fight hard to claim the gold medal at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U23 World Championships on Sunday.

The Australians defeated USA’s new team Lara Dykstra and Jace Pardon 2-1 (21-19, 17-21, 15-7) on centre court at Slupna Park in Myslowice.

The Americans played a clever game with cuts and dinks around Laird’s big block and pushed the Australians to the limit.

“We knew it was going to be tough, USA always comes to play”, said Artacho, who added a second medal to her bronze at the Junior World Champs in 2012. “They are very competitive, we knew it was going to be a three-setter.”

USA came back strong after losing the first set and pushed the match into a tiebreak. “We dropped concentration a bit, made a few errors”, said Laird about the second set. “But USA leapt into the game as well. All credit where there is credit due. But we were prepared for a long game.”

With strong serving and placed attacks down the line Artacho made the difference in the third set. At the first Australian set point Laird scored the winning point with her serve.

“Mariafe has a little bit of magic in her back pocket”, said Laird about her partner. “She’s had that her whole volleyball career and I never get stressed in the back of the sets, because I feel save that she will pull something out. It was a fight, but we got back.”

Second bronze for Canada

Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Taylor Pischke won the bronze medal, for the second year in a row. After they lost to Australia in the semifinal they came back with a 2-1 (21-18, 14-21, 15-10) win over Finland’s Taru Lahti and Anniina Parkkinen.

Pischke: “To be honest it was pretty tough to come out and bounce back and play that third place match, cause obviously we did not want to be there. It was a tough loss against Australia. We had a lot of chances to win that one.”

After coming out strong against Finland, the Canadian girls let loose a little in the second set and the Finish girls took their chances to win it. In the tiebreak Humana-Paredes and Pischke got their act together and claimed third place after all.

“It was important we came back and won the bronze”, said Pischke. “Not the colour we wanted, but a medal is a medal and we are happy.”

Congrats to all of you. God bless.

Comments:Not suitable for kids

By Lily Harrison

Five years after Michael Jackson's death, his legacy still lives on through his three children, Paris Jackson and her brothers, Blanket and Prince Michael.

So just how have his kids been holding up since their father's tragic passing? Let's take a look:

• Prince: The 17-year-old most recently stepped out at the True Blood season-seven premiere party in Hollywood on June 17. It was there that he hobnobbed with celebs like Anna Paquin and Joe Manganiello and spoke about his career ambitions in the entertainment industry. In fact, he told Entertainment Tonight, "I'm looking to become well-rounded as a producer, director, screenwriter and actor." Prince's father would definitely be proud of his eldest child's extracurricular activities. It turns out that in his spare time, he volunteers with Children's Hospital L.A.

• Paris: The daughter of the pop icon has no doubt been through some highly publicized tough times, but things are looking up for the 16-year-old. E! News previously reported that the 16-year-old, who attempted suicide in June 2013, is "doing real well." Our source added that the blue-eyed beauty is currently still attending boarding school in Utah, and adds, "She is doing a lot better. She is getting back to normal. I think she has made quite a bit of progress over the past year."

• Blanket: The 12-year-old is the youngest of the music legend's three kids, and has been keeping a low profile outside of attending a few events with his relatives. He currently lives at home with his brother and loves tweeting about his favorite foods and bands—just like a normal preteen!

Team Greece and Team Cote d'Ivoire

FORTALEZA, Brazil --

Greece doesn't score often at the World Cup, but its goals certainly come at the right time.

Greece doubled its total scoring tally at World Cup tournaments by netting twice against the Cote d'Ivoire on Tuesday - the second coming through an injury-time penalty that secured a 2-1 victory and a spot in the knockout rounds.

Having gone scoreless through its first two games in Brazil -- a loss and a draw -- the Greeks are now improbably into the round of 16 for the first time in their history - when European powers like Spain, Italy and England are going home.

Ivory Coast only needed a draw to advance at Greece's expense and was a couple of minutes away from celebrating when Georgios Samaras was adjudged to have been tripped in the area by substitute Giovanni Sio. Samaras calmly slotted in the spot kick for a last-gasp win that eliminated the Africans.

''This means so much to me, to us ... Tonight we had energy,'' Samaras said, dedicating the win to Greeks suffering through financial crisis. ''We really hope we can make the people happy back home. We are a team. A team - that's it.''

Celebrations erupted in Greece, where the game ended well after midnight. Thousands of fans poured into the streets to celebrate in Athens, and the country's second-largest city Thessaloniki.

The players in Fortaleza danced around in a circle and sang with small groups of travelling fans at Arena Castelao who had been drowned out all night by the pro-African Brazilian crowd.

Greece only scored twice in its previous two World Cup tournaments and lost its opening game in Brazil to eventual Group C winner Colombia 3-0 before holding Japan 0-0.

On Tuesday, it took the lead just before halftime through substitute Andreas Samaris, who punished Ivorian Ismael Tiote for a careless pass backward.

Substitute Wilfried Bony equalized for Cote d'Ivoire in the 74th, beating goalkeeper Pangiotis Glykos from close range after being set up by Gervinho.

That goal looked like it would put the Africans through until the late drama. Samaras met a cross in the area and tried to shoot with his left leg, which got caught against the leg of Sio. Samaras' foot then hit the ground and he fell to the turf, drawing a penalty.

With his country's hopes on the line, Samaras sent his spot kick past goalkeeper Boubacar Barry, who guessed the right way but couldn't keep the ball out.

''We came here to advance from the group stage. We've never done it before, and we did tonight in a great way,'' said Greece captain Giorgos Karagounis, a veteran of the team that won the European Championship in 2004. ''The goal should have come earlier. So God helped us in the end and we all thank him. We prevailed against the odds. We had passion and we had fight.''

Veteran striker Didier Drogba started for Cote d'Ivoire along with Yaya and Kolo Toure despite the recent death of their brother Ibrahim. The Ivorians wore black armbands as a sign of mourning.

''Cote d'Ivoire is a great football nation. And this was a cruel game, a cruel game,'' Cote d'Ivoire coach Sabri Lamouchi said. ''After so much hard work and so much sacrifice, all of us and everyone in the Ivory Coast is very sad.''

Greece, which had failed to score in the previous two Group C matches, finished second in Group C with four points, behind winner Colombia with nine. Cote d'Ivoire had three and Japan one.

On Tuesday, the Greeks missed a handful of scoring chances against Cote d'Ivoire, hitting the crossbar twice with shots from distance. The Greeks were also forced to make two early substitutions after valuable midfielder Pangiotis Kone and goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis were injured in the first half.

''We found balance tonight. We are not the worst team when we lose or the best when we win. To everyone in Greece I say: Go out into the street and celebrate,'' Greece coach Fernando Santos said. ''The moment of the penalty was very tense. I knew Georgios would get it in. ... I've already had a couple of cigarettes and I'm going to have a few more. I think this is a night for three of four beers.''

---

Lineups:

Kevin Mirallas

Mr. Eli Wallach We Salute You

The character actor from Brooklyn was at his best playing banditos in that Clint Eastwood classic as well as in "The Magnificent Seven," just two highlights of his six-decade-plus career.

Mr. Eli Wallach, the enduring and artful character actor who starred as Mexican hombres in the 1960s film classics The Magnificent Seven and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, has died. He was 98.

Wallach, who won a Tony Award in 1951 for playing Alvaro in Tennessee Williams’ original production of The Rose Tattoo, made his movie debut as a cotton-gin owner trying to seduce a virgin in Elia Kazan’s Baby Doll (1956) and worked steadily well into his nineties, died on Tuesday, his daughter Katherine told The New York Times.

No other details of his death were immediately available.

“As an actor I’ve played more bandits, thieves, warlords, molesters and mafioso that you could shake a stick at,” Wallach said in November 2010 when he accepted an Honorary Academy Award at the second annual Governors Awards, becoming the oldest Oscar recipient.

Among his survivors is actress and frequent co-star Anne Jackson, his wife of 66 years.

In John Sturges’ The Magnificent Seven (1960), a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 Japanese gem Seven Samurai, Wallach plays the merciless Calvera, a bandit with two gold-capped teeth whose marauders routinely raid a Mexican village for food. The pillaged recruit a veteran gunslinger (Yul Brynner) and six others, including Steve McQueen, to protect them.

Six years later, Wallach starred in his most memorable role, as the fast-talking Tuco (The Ugly) opposite Clint Eastwood (The Good) and Lee Van Cleef (The Bad) in Sergio Leone’s spaghetti Western set during the American Civil War and centered on a three-way hunt for gold buried in a cemetery.

During shooting in Spain, Wallach was almost killed when a galloping horse carried him for a considerable distance while his hands were tied behind his back. Later, Leone positioned him in the dirt, where a speeding train’s protruding iron steps missed the actor by inches. Wallach refused to do another take, a decision that surely contributed to his longevity.

The Brooklyn native also was memorable as a well-dressed hitman looking to retrieve heroin stuffed in a Japanese doll in Don Siegel’s The Lineup (1958); as Guido in John Huston’s The Misfits opposite Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe in their final film appearances; as Audrey Hepburn’s suitor in How to Steal a Million (1966); as James Caan’s harsh boot-camp instructor in Cinderella Liberty (1973); and as a mafioso with a sweet tooth in The Godfather: Part III (1990).

The good-natured actor appeared in more than 90 films, including two released in 2010: Oliver Stone’s Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer.

On television, Wallach won an Emmy for his role as a former drug merchant who now worked in the aspirin business in ABC’s Poppies Are Also Flowers, a 1966 anti-narcotics telefilm produced by the United Nations from a story by Ian Fleming. He also earned noms for his work as a blacklisted writer on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip in 2006 and as an ailing patient on Nurse Jackie three years later.

Plus, he got loads of fan mail for playing Mr. Freeze (the third actor to do so) on TV’s Batman in the 1960s.

Wallach was born on Dec. 7, 1915, the son of Polish immigrants who owned a candy store and lived in the back. He went to Erasmus Hall High School and didn’t have the grades to get into City College in New York, so he wound up at the University of Texas, where he was friends with Zachary Scott and Walter Cronkite. After graduation, he ventured back to the Big Apple and studied method acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, where his fellow students included Tony Randall, Gregory Peck and Efrem Zimbalist Jr.

After serving as a medic in World War II, the 5-foot-7 Wallach returned to New York and landed his first Broadway part in 1945. Within the next few years, he rose to become a fixture on the New York stage and began doing live TV.

Noticing his stirring performance at the Martin Beck Theater in The Rose Tattoo, Kazan cast Wallach in Baby Doll, whose screenplay also was written by Williams.

With Wallach going after the virgin 19-year-old wife (Carroll Baker) of his competitor (Karl Malden), the film was condemned by the Catholic Church for being “grievously offensive to Christian and traditional standards of morality and decency.”

“They said that anyone who goes to see it is in danger of being excommunicated,” Wallach told The Times in 2010. “I said, ‘I’m Jewish. What the hell are they going to know about me?’ ”

In addition to his wife and daughter, Wallach is survived by his other children Peter and Roberta and film critic A.O. Scott, whose grandfather was Wallach’s brother.

Sting by Zach Johnson

f you're one of Sting's six children, this news is likely going to sting.

The music legend, who is worth an estimated $300 million, says he won't be leaving his three sons and three daughters a big inheritance. "I told them there won't be much money left because we are spending it! We have a lot of commitments. What comes in we spend, and there isn't much left," says the 62-year-old rocker, who supports a number of charities with Trudie Styler, his wife of 21 years. "I certainly don't want to leave them trust funds that are albatrosses round their necks. They have to work. All my kids know that and they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate."

Sting tells The Daily Mail that his kids have always worked to pay their own way. The singer would be willing to intervene if any of them were in trouble, but thankfully, he said that situation has yet to arise.

"They have this work ethic that makes them want to succeed on their own merit," says the "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" singer, who currently employs 100+ people. "People make assumptions, that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, but they have not been given a lot."

"With my children there is great wealth, success–a great shadow over them–so it's no picnic at all being my child," says Sting, who had a troublesome relationship with his own father. "I discuss that with them; it's tough for them."

Known for hits like "Every Breath You Take," "Don't Stand So Close to Me," "Roxanne" and "Fields of Gold," the former Police frontman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Over the years, Sting won a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award and earned several Academy Award nominations.

What's next for Sting at this phase in his life?

"I have a story still to tell and part of that is I am facing the end of my life," the singer-songwriter says. "I have lived more of my life than is to come: that is an interesting place for an artist—more interesting than writing about your first girlfriend. It is kind of serious. In our 60s, how do we face this imponderable idea that we are not going to exist any more? We make art. We tell stories. We have to face it, to tell it."

"I am certainly not ready for death," the ardent activist admits. "Do I fear it? Well, I fear sudden death. I want to die consciously. I want to see the process. I suppose I already do," he says. "My eyesight is not as good as it used to be, nor my hearing. I am still extremely fit but have to work hard. But we decay."

"I love what Christopher Hitchens said about death: 'You have been asked to leave the party and the problem is the party will carry on without you,'" Sting says, quoting the British-American author. "Very eloquent."

Mr. Dennis Wilson and Mr. Carl Wilson ---We Salute You Guys, RIP

The Beach Boys - Your Imagination

Another car running fast
Another song on the beach
I take a trip through the past
When summer's way out of reach
Another walk in the park
When I need something to do
And when I feel all alone
Sometimes I think about you
You take my hand
Smile and say you don't understand
To look in your eyes
And see what you feel
And then realize that nothing's for real
'Cause you know it's just

Your imagination running wild

Another bucket of sand
Another wave and the pier
I miss the way that I used
To call the shots around here
You know it would've been nice
If I had something to do
I took a trip through the past
And got to spend it with you
You take my hand
Smile and say you don't understand
To look in your eyes
And see what you feel
And then realize that nothing's for real
'Cause you know it's just

Your imagination running wild

The Much Music Video Awards by Tom Breihan

The Canadian music network Much Music is the station that employs _____ Up frontman Damian Abraham as a VJ, but it’s still best understood as a more-local MTV analog, something that comes through pretty clearly if you look at the station’s annual Much Music Video Awards show, which went down this past weekend. Despite its nationalistic bent, the big winners were all straight-up pop stars; Hedley, who I’ve never heard of, came away with more trophies than anyone else, and Drake took come a couple, too. But the night’s real star had to be visiting New Zealander Lorde, who turned in the most definitively Lorde performance I’ve ever seen. Doing a medley of “Tennis Court” and “Team,” she displayed a stage presence that’s approaching Kate Bush levels of lovable, dramatic goofiness. The hair flips and zombie-marionette rap hands are only becoming more prevalent, and the collapsing-with-a-lamp thing at the end was a nice touch, a possible nod to the talking heads’ Stop Making Sense. Meanwhile, a very different young pop queen also got a showcase spot: Ariana Grande, who closed out the show by singing “Problem” and cranking up the pop-art/Bond-girl style of the video even further. Iggy Azalea wasn’t there, but they did pipe her verse in.

AWARD WINNERS:
Video Of The Year: Hedley – “Anything”
International Video Of The Year (Artist): Lorde – “Royals”
International Video Of The Year (Group): Imagine Dragons – “Demons”
Pop Video Of The Year: Hedley – “Anything”
Dance Video Of The YEar: Autoerotique – “Asphyxiation”
Hip-Hop Video Of The Year: Drake – “Worst Behavior”
Rock/Alternative Video Of The Year: Sam Roberts – “Shapeshifters”
International Video Of The Year By A Canadian: Drake – “Hold On, We’re Going Home” (Feat. Majid Jordan)
Director Of The Year: Thugli – “Run This” (Amos LeBlanc, Ohji Inoue)
Post-Production Of The Year: City and Colour – “Thirst”
MuchFact Video Of The Year: SonReal – “Everywhere We Go”
Your Fave Video: Hedley – “Anything”
Your Fave Artist Or Group: Justin Bieber
Your Fave International Artist Or Group: Selena Gomez

Licia Colò Scritto da Yahoo! TV | Zapping

Mr. Curtis Mayfield - Superfly

Darkest of night
With the moon shining bright
There's a set going strong
Lotta things going on
The man of the hour
Has an air of great power
The dudes have envied him for so long

Oh, superfly
You're gonna make your fortune by and by
But if you lose, don't ask no questions why
The only game you know is do or die
Ha ha ha

Hard to understand
What a hell of a man
This cat of the slum
Had a mind, wasn't dumb
But a weakness was shown
'Cause his hustle was wrong
His mind was his own
But the man lived alone

Oh, superfly
You're gonna make your fortune by and by
But if you lose, don't ask no questions why
The only game you know is do or die
Ha ha ha

The game he plays he plays for keeps
Hustling times and ghetto streets trying ta get over
That's what he trying to do, y'all
Taking all that he can take
Gambling with the odds of fate
Trying to get over trying to get over
Trying to get over trying to get over
Trying to get over trying to get over
Trying to get over trying to get over
Superfly
Ha ha ha

The aim of his role
Was to move a lot of blow
Ask him his dream
What does it mean? He wouldn't know
Can't be like the rest
Is the most he'll confess
But the time's running out
And there's no happiness

Oh, superfly
You're gonna make your fortune by and by
But if you lose, don't ask no questions why
The only game you know is do or die
Ha ha ha

Superfly superfly
Superfly superfly
Trying to get over
Trying to get over
Trying to get over
Trying to get over
Trying to get over
Trying to get over
Trying to get over
Trying to get over
Trying to get over

Ms. Pippa Middleton by Bruna Nessif

Pippa Middleton wants to help fight heart disease.

It has been announced that the 30-year-old brunette beauty is named as the new ambassador for the British Heart Foundation.

"I was shocked to learn that nearly three times more women die from coronary heart disease than breast cancer," Kate Middleton's younger sister said. "I'm passionate about raising awareness amongst women of this killer disease and I look forward to working with the BHF to highlight to women the risks of heart disease and importantly, how the can reduce them."

The news comes just a day before Pippa and her brother, James Middleton, participate in the Race Across America, a 3,000-mile journey from Oceanside, Calif., to Annapolis, Md., starting on Saturday.

"On 14th June, my brother and I, along with six friends will be setting off on a West to East Coast Race Across America (RAAM). This relay cycling event spans 3,000 miles, 12 states and 88 counties. We are aiming to complete this non-stop challenge in eight days, riding between 350 and 500 miles a day," a JustGiving Foundation page, which appears to belong to Pippa, reads.

"Shortly after this, we will be heading over to Istanbul to take on the Bosphorus Cross-Continental Race. This 6.5km historical swim crosses two continents - Europe to Asia, across one of the world's busiest shipping lanes. We are taking on these two overseas sporting challenges to raise money for two charities that are very close to our hearts."

She continued, "We're passionate about raising awareness of this killer disease and money raised from these challenges will go towards funding the British Heart Foundation's life-saving heart research. The other charity we're supporting is the Michael Matthews Foundation. Mike tragically died descending the summit of Mount Everest. The Foundation helps to provide education to children all over the world. Mike's brother James, is part of our team."

Sir Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson --Say Say Say

Say, say, say what you want
But don't play games with my affection
Take, take, take what you need
But don't leave me with no direction

All alone, I sit home by the phone
Waiting for you, baby, through the years
How can you stand to hear my pleading for you?
You know I'm crying, ooo, ooo, ooo
Yeah yeah

Go, go, go where you want
But don't leave me here forever
You, you, you stay away
So long girl, I see you never

What can I do, girl, to get through to you?
'Cause I love you baby
Standing here, baptized in all my tears
Baby, through the years
You know I'm crying, ooo, ooo, ooo

You never ever worry
And you never shed a tear
You're saying that my love ain't real
Just look at my face these tears ain't drying

You, you, you can never say
That I'm not the one who really loves you
pray, pray, pray every day
That you'll see things, girl, like I do

What can I do, girl, to get through to you?
'Cause I love you baby
Standing here, baptized in all my tears
Baby through the years
You know I'm crying, ooo, ooo, ooo

Say, say, say
Say, say, say
Say, say, say
Say, say, say
Say, say, say

You never ever worry
And you never shed a tear
You're saying that my love ain't real
Just look at my face these tears ain't drying

You, you, you can never say
That I'm not the one who really loves you
pray, pray, pray every day
That you'll see things, girl, like I do

Sir Paul McCartney

Happy Birthday Sir McCartney. God bless.

Vinyl records, public phones, the typewriter…they all had their day before being replaced by newer, better technologies. Are resumes also becoming extinct in our digital world?

There has been a lot of buzz about resumes going out of fashion. Job seekers have an array of powerful, highly visual and easy-to-use ways to get employers’ attention. Think video. Think PowerPoint. Think social media profiles such as LinkedIn.

After all, isn’t a picture worth a thousand words?

Not so fast. As a recruiter, I’m not so quick to dismiss the resume as the quintessential job search tool. I admit resumes have their shortcomings: they are not reliable predictors of superstardom; they can be riddled with inaccuracies, and they can even be intentionally misleading. And in some cases if you are web designer, or architect, a portfolio will be a necessary supplement. But resumes remain the one tool that enables employers to quickly compare and contrast multiple candidates and zero in on prime ones, especially when it comes to business positions.

Once I had a candidate send me a colorful PowerPoint presentation, where each slide had a visual representation of a bundle of his skill. It was terrible. It assumed the reader was an idiot, and it didn’t provide any additional information I could not already get from his resume. It just complicated simple terms, rather than simplifying complicated ones. Needless to say, I didn’t send that candidate on any interviews. I could not trust his judgment.

With a scan of your resume, a well-trained recruiter can tell if you pay attention to detail, if you are a good salesperson, if you are analytical, and even if you are a go-getter. From format to word choices to the decisions you’ve made about what to include and exclude, a recruiter can find a great deal of information about who you are and how you might perform in a particular role.

My take? The Resume isn’t going away anytime soon. Here’s why:
1.It’s a commonly accepted presentation of accomplishments that summarize skills in a succinct manner.
2.It quickly paints a picture of “you” the professional – who you are, where you’ve come from, where you want to go.
3.It can be readily customized for different target positions versus social media profiles that are more generic.
4.It’s a universally accepted tool because it’s easy for recruiters to absorb, compare and contrast. Employers have created entire systems to manage and evaluate resumes quickly, they have a vested interest in keep them.
5.Recruiters also have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo because they’re able to quickly compare candidates by reviewing their resume.
6.Migration to a new common standard would be very costly and would slow down everyone in the industry

So, if I were you, I’d make sure my resume is up to snuff – dusted off, cleanly formatted and updated with my latest and greatest accomplishments. You never know when your next job opportunity will knock at your door. Be ready.

Donovan - Hurdy Gurdy Man

Thrown like a star in my vast sleep
I opened my eyes to take a peek
To find that I was by the sea
Gazing with tranquility

'Tis then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love

Hurdy gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy he sang
Hurdy gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy he sang
Hurdy gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy he sang

Histories of ages past
Hung in light and shadows cast
Down through all eternity
The crying of humanity

'Tis then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love

Hurdy gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy, gurdy he sang
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurd
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy gurdy he sang

Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy gurdy he sang
Here comes the Roly Poly Man
He's singing songs of love
Roly poly, roly poly, holy poly poly he sang
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy gurdy he sang
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy gurdy he sang

Mr. Casey Kasem We Salute You

by Corinne Heller

Mr. Casey Kasem, one of the United States' most famous radio DJs and a cartoon voice-over artist who worked on several Scooby-Doo cartoons, died at age 82 on Sunday, June 15—Father's Day, his rep confirmed to E! News.

He had been suffering from Lewy body dementia, a degenerative disease similar to Parkinson's, and had been hospitalized in critical condition. His family had been involved in a legal battle over his health care and visitation rights and a judge had ruled that daughter Kerri Kasem, who was in charge of his care, be allowed to implement end-of-life measures for the ailing radio personality, against the wishes of his wife and her stepmother, Jean.

Casey is survived by Jean, Kerri, other daughters Julie and Liberty, son Mike, brother Mouner and sister-in-law Mary and ex-wife, Linda.

"Early this Father's Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends," she said on her Facebook page, alongside a throwback photo. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad. With love, Kerri, Mike and Julie."

"We are confirming that Casey Kasem passed away at 3:23 AM this morning at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor, WA," his rep told E! News. "He was surrounded by Kerri, Mike, Julie and close family and friends. No cause of death given at this time."

The radio personality's wife was not by his side when he passed away, E! News has learned.

Casey had been in a care facility in California earlier this year and his wife had recently moved him to a private residence in Washington. On June 1, Kerri arrived with an ambulance crew to bring her dad to a hospital and her stepmother threw a pound of raw hamburger meat at them before allowing them inside.

Casey, who was born Kemal Amin Kasem in Detroit, worked as an Armed Forces Radio Korea Network DJ and announcer while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 1952. He later worked at several stations in the United States and launched the show American Top 40 in 1970. He was succeeded by Ryan Seacrest in 2004.

"It's a sad day for the broadcasting community and for radio listeners around the world," Seacrest, who is also an E! host, said in a statement to E! News. "When I was a kid, I would listen to Casey Kasem's AT40 show every weekend, and dream about someday becoming a radio DJ. So when decades later I took over his AT40 countdown show, it was a surreal moment. Casey had a distinctive friendly on-air voice, and he was just as affable and nice if you had the privilege to be in his company. He'll be greatly missed by all of us."

''When I signed off, I just said, 'And don't forget, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars,'" Casey told the New York Times, repeating his famous radio catchphrase.

In addition to his radio work, Casey also provided the voice of Shaggy and other characters in several Scooby-Doo cartoons. Matthew Lillard portrayed the character starting in 2010. Casey also made two memorable appearances as himself on the hit '90s teen series Saved By The Bell and his voice was also heard in the 1984 movie Ghostbusters, which featured Jean in a party scene.

''Shaggy is one of my claims to fame," the radio personality told the New York Times. "But I think Casey surpasses him a little bit. However, one will last longer than the other, and Shaggy will go on forever. 'They are going to be playing Shaggy and Scooby-Doo for eons and eons, and they're going to forget Casey Kasem—unless they happen to step on his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I'll be one of those guys people say 'Who's that?' about. And someone else will say, 'He's just some guy who used to be on the radio.''

RIP

Michael Schumacher

That's truly great. Please continue praying for him. God bless you Mr. Schumacher.
