Fannie Mae klagt gegen neun Banken (AFP)

Futura Volley Busto Arsizio - Volley Conegliano 1-3 (13-25 22-25 25-22 17-25)

Nikolova in attacco - foto © Tarantini
Nikolova in attacco - foto © Tarantini

Tony Parker and Axelle Francine by Rebecca Macatee

Tony Parker's going to be a daddy!

On Thursday, Oct. 31, the San Antonio Spurs point guard tweeted that his journalist fiancée Axelle Francine was pregnant, writing, "Hey just wanted to say that I'm very happy today... me and my future Wife going to have a Baby Boy!!!!"

Aww, already a proud papa! This will be the first child for the French couple. Parker nonchalantly announced their engagement this past June during a twitter chat, saying his favorite thing was to do was to "Spend time with my fiance." Parker, 31, and Francine, also 31, have been together since 2011.

The dad-to-be was previously married to Eva Longoria. The pair said "I do" in July 2007, but in November 2010, Longoria filed for divorce amid rampant rumors that Parker had exchanged hundreds of text messages with another woman.

"Eva wants everyone to know, she's devastated by the rumors of Tony's infidelity. She loved her husband and is heartbroken about their split," her friend, Mario Lopez, said on Extra at the time. "But she's strong."

Yes, she is, and Longoria and Parker's divorce was finalized in January 2011. Fortunately, both seem to have moved on in a positive way!

Congrats! God bless!

Ms. Marcia Wallace We Salute You

by Mike Barnes and Erik Hayden

In addition to her role as Edna Krabappel on the Fox show, she also starred on "The Bob Newhart Show."
Marcia Wallace, the voice of The Simpsons' Edna Krabappel who earlier played the quick-witted receptionist on The Bob Newhart Show, has died. She was 70.

I was tremendously saddened to learn this morning of the passing of the brilliant and gracious Marcia Wallace. She was beloved by all at The Simpsons and we intend to retire her irreplaceable character," said Simpsons executive producer Al Jean in a statement.

Jean addressed a storyline that was previously teased about killing off a character on the show and noted that this was not associated with Wallace.

"Earlier we had discussed a potential storyline in which a character passed away. This was not Marcia's Edna Krabappel. Marcia's passing is unrelated and again, a terrible loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing her," Jean wrote.

"Cheers to the hilarious, kind, fab Marcia Wallace, who has taken her leave of us. Heaven is now a much funnier place b/c of you, Marcia," Yeardley Smith, who voices Lisa Simpson, wrote on Twitter on Saturday morning.

Wallace died Friday night at her home in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia, her son Michael told the Los Angeles Times.

She won an Emmy Award for her voice work as Ms. Krabappel in the 1992 Simpsons episode "Bart the Lover." After the elementary school teacher gives Bart a month of detention, he gets his revenge by responding to her newspaper singles ad. That was her 10th of 177 episodes on the series.

On Newhart, which aired on CBS from 1972 to 1978, Wallace played Carol Kester, the wise-cracking, independent receptionist in a Chicago high rise that housed the offices of psychologist Bob Hartley (Newhart) and orthodontist Jerry Robinson (Peter Bonerz). She was in 139 of the show's 142 episodes.

"The odds of getting on a series long enough to be remembered are infinitesimal," she told The New York Times in 2010. "A lot of what I’ve done, I would not have done without Carol Kester."

In a 1994 episode of CBS' Murphy Brown, Wallace played Candice Bergin's secretary. Newhart shows up in character and begs her to come back to work for him in Chicago. Wallace received an Emmy nomination for the guest-starring appearance.

Cathryn Michon, the writer-director of the forthcoming film Muffin Top: A Love Story, which features Wallace, wrote on Twitter on Friday: "Devastated 2nite at passing of #Marciawallace dear friend 1 of the stars of my @MuffinTopMovie. She was my hero, cheered 4 me. Grrl Genius."

Wallace was born in Creston, Iowa, and attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. The day of her graduation, she left for New York for an acting career with just $150 to her name. Back then, she weighed 220 pounds and described herself as 5-foot-8 -- but with hair, 6 feet 2 inches.

She lost 100 pounds, formed an improvisational group and joined the staff of Merv Griffin's syndicated talk show. She would make 75 appearances on the show. Producer Grant Tinker, head of MTM Enterprises, spotted her and offered her the role of Carol on Newhart.

Wallace also was a popular game-show participant on Hollywood Squares, The $25,000 Pyramid, To Tell the Truth, Match Game and others. She appeared on such series as Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, Murder, She Wrote and Full House and voiced numerous other characters.

Wallace was diagnosed with cancer in 1985 and became a high-profile advocate for breast cancer awareness, speaking to thousands of women across the country every year. She won the Gilda Radner Courage Award from Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2007.

She published an autobiography in 2004, Don't Look Back, We're Not Going That Way, with the subtitle How I Overcame a Rocky Childhood, a Nervous Breakdown, Breast Cancer, Widowhood, Fat, Fire & Menopausal Motherhood and Still Managed to Count My Lucky Chickens.

She married hotelier Dennis Hawley in 1986; he died in 1992 of pancreatic cancer. In addition to their son Michael, survivors include her sister Sherry and brother Jimmy.

Kristin Cavallari by Lily Harrison

And a baby makes four!
E! News can confirm that Kristin Cavallari is pregnant with her second child with NFL star hubby Jay Cutler.
The couple is already proud parents to baby Camden, who turned one over the summer.
K.Cav's pregnancy shouldn't come as a total shock, however, as she's been open for the last several months about wanting to expand her family.
In fact, in September she told E! News that she and Cutler were already trying to grow their brood.
"We want to have a second sooner rather than later," the 26-year-old told E! News at a Junk Food Vintage NFL event in New York. "We're working on it!"

The former Hills star explained her reasoning behind wanting to become a mommy for the second time as soon as possible.
"We know we want another one close in age to Camden and we're at the point where we're both ready," the blond beauty shared. "Before Camden was born, I thought I'd be pregnant again by the time he was six months, but I definitely wasn't ready. Now, I'm finally ready."
So will the nursery be painted blue or pink?! Well, it's too soon to tell as of now but Cavallari did reveal that she wants to have a baby daughter the second time around.
"Obviously, I want a little girl, but if I had another boy I would be so excited as well," she told us."

"I love having a boy. Either way, I'd be really, really happy."
It's been a busy year for the Cutlers thus far.
The duo welcomed their son's first birthday and tied to knot over the summer in Nashville.
Around 150 guests joined them for their ceremony—actually the day after they quietly exchanged their vows—at Woodmont Christian Church followed by a rustic reception at a big historic warehouse, with a live band and Southern comfort food.
The newlyweds then honeymooned in Italy, which "was awesome," Cavallari told us. "I ate and drank for two weeks straight. It was great."
Congrats to the happy and growing family!

*Congrats! God bless!

Priyanka Chopra by Marc Malkin

Not just anyone becomes a Guess Girl.

Claudia Schiffer, Anna Nicole Smith, Drew Barrymore, Kate Upton, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Paris Hilton are just a few of the world's most beautiful women who have been the face and body of the famous fashion company.

Now we can add Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra to the list.

E! News can exclusively reveal that Chopra, a former Miss World and now an actress and singer, will star in Guess' upcoming holiday campaign. The black and white ads, shot by rocker photographer Bryan Adams, feature Priyanka posing in a Mediterranean villa.

Guess president Paul Marciano signed Chopra after just one meeting. He told her she reminded him of Sophia Loren.

"I'm pretty much quintessential Guess—feminine, the big hair, the big eyes, the doe-eyed look," Chopra told me in an exclusive interview at the Guess studios in downtown L.A., adding, "I really do believe that women should always be feminine and beautiful and not skinny, but rounded."

Chopra's mom launched her daughter's career in 2000 after she secretly entered her into the Miss India competition when she was just 17. Since then, she has become one of Bollywood's most recognizable stars. In the U.S., her single, "In My City" featuring will.i.am, debuted as the theme song for the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football. Her debut English language album will be released later this year.

"I didn't know anything about show business," Chopra said. "I was an academic. I wanted to be aeronautical engineer, build planes, work at NASA…I wouldn't go to the moon, I'd make the space shuttles."

NOVARA - CONEGLIANO 0-3 (17-25, 18-25, 13-25)

MOMENTI CHIAVE - Primo set (8-6, 11-12, 17-25).

Terzo set (5-8, 8-12, 13-25). Parziale mai in discussione, con Conegliano subito all'orizzonte (7-11, 9-19).

Canadian starting salaries by Peter Harris

Several reports came out this week with projections for where Canadian paycheques are headed over the coming year. Here’s a look at what we’re earning now, and who is expected to see the biggest increases in 2014.

According to the annual salary report by Robert Half International, the starting salaries for Canadians working in a variety of professional occupations are expected to increase by an average of 4% next year.

The biggest pay increases are expected to go to technology positions, with projected of 5.5% increase in starting salaries. Workers in accounting and finance are predicted to receive starting salaries that are up an average of 3.2% over this year.

Robert Half predicts that overall starting salaries for administrative professionals in Canada will increase by 3.2% in 2014.

Also released this week was Aon Hewitt’s Salary Increase Survey which predicts an average increase of 2.9% for Canadian workers across the board. Manufacturing jobs are expected to see just above this at a 3% boost in pay – while at 2.8%, service industry jobs are expected to fall just below the average.

According to Statistics Canada, the average salary in Canada (as of July 2013) is $47,500 a year. Albertans are the highest paid Canadians with average salaries in that province coming in at just over $57,000 or nearly $10,000 above the national average. With an average salary of $49,500 per year, people in Saskatchewan are the next highest paid. Earning an average pay of just under $40,000 a year, Prince Edward Islanders earn the lowest salaries.

Wondering what the right salary is for your profession? The Canadian government’s Working in Canada website has an in depth salary comparison tool with the average pay for specific occupations by region across the country.

London film festival 2013 by Vanessa Thorpe

British-based director Pawel Pawlikowski's latest film, Ida, took the top prize at the close of the London film festival on Saturday night.

The Observer's former film critic Philip French announced the Best Film award, saying: "The jury greatly admired Ida, the first film made in his native Poland by a director who came to prominence while living in Britain. We were deeply moved by a courageous film that handles, with subtlety and insight, a painfully controversial historical situation – the German occupation and the Holocaust – which continues to resonate."

The Guardian's film critic, Peter Bradshaw, was one of many who welcomed Pawlikowski's new work last week. Coming after the director's acclaimed Last Resort, from 2000, and My Summer of Love, made in 2004, it was, he wrote, "a small gem, tender and bleak, funny and sad, superbly photographed in luminous monochrome". The film tells of an orphan and novice nun who reaches out to her only surviving relative, an aunt.

Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at the awards dinner to present Sir Christoper Lee with a British Film Institute Fellowship, the highest accolade of the night. "It is very kind and unexpected," Lee said, to a standing ovation. "It means a lot to me that you are here."

Guests at the awards dinner included French's fellow jurors: actress Miranda Richardson; Lone Scherfig, director of the Oscar-nominated An Education; the Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto; and the author and screenwriter Deborah Moggach.

Actors Stephen Dillane, Saoirse Ronan, Jim Broadbent, Colin Salmon and Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt also attended and Ronan, the star of How I Live Now, handed Jonathan Asser, screenwriter of Starred Up, the Best British Newcomer award.

The title of Asser's uncompromising debut feature refers to the practice of placing violent young offenders in an adult prison. Amanda Posey, jury president for this award, said: "Starred Up is an original story told with an individual and authentic voice, at once moving, provocative and always gripping.

"The material, even from a new screenwriter, was intelligent and distinctive enough to attract very high quality filmmaking talent and actors, and to help elicit extraordinary work from all involved.

"The whole jury felt Jonathan Asser brought a fresh, resonant and surprising perspective to a classic conflict."

Also picked out for praise by Posey were the performances of Asser's fellow nominees Conner Chapman and Shaun Thomas, who star in Clio Barnard's The Selfish Giant. "The whole jury was blown away by these two performances and we could not separate them as, together, they are the heart of the film," Posey said.

The Sutherland Award for first feature went to Anthony Chen, director of Ilo Ilo. "The startlingly assured direction and screenwriting of the winning film surprised us all," said Elizabeth Karlsen, the jury president, before also commending Chika Anadu's B For Boy for its "visual and emotional elegance".

The winner of the Grierson Award for best documentary went to My Fathers, My Mother and Me, a portrait of the largest commune in Europe, Friedrichshof, and the life of its residents. According to jury president Kate Ogborn, fellow jurors wanted to recognise the bravery of its director, Paul-Julien Robert. "It is a thought-provoking and disturbing film," she said, "intimate, while also raising larger questions of power, parental responsibility and abuse."

Congrats to all of you. God bless.

Mr. Hal Needham We Salute You

Mr. Hal Needham, longtime stuntman and director of “Smokey and the Bandit” and “Cannonball Run” for Burt Reynolds, died Friday in Los Angeles after a short battle with cancer, his manager confirmed. He was 82.

At one time the highest paid stuntman in the world, he was said to have broken 56 bones, broken his back twice, punctured a lung and knocked out a few teeth while working on 4500 TV episodes and 310 feature films. His work was admired by generations of filmmakers including Quentin Tarantino.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Needham, a native of Tennessee, broke into show business as a stunt double for Richard Boone on the series “Have Gun, Will Travel.” Among the hundreds of films on which he did stunts were “Stagecoach,” “How the West Was Won,” “The Bridge at Remagen,” “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” and “Little Big Man.”

He became friends with Reynolds, who offered Needham the opportunity to direct “Smokey and the Bandit,” for which Needham had written the screenplay. Needham also directed “Hooper,” “Stroker Ace,”"Street Luge” and “Rad.”

Needham received a Governors Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences last year, where he was introduced by Tarantino, who said, “I have ripped off a lot of shots from you, and today I say, ‘Thank you very much.’” At the tribute, Needham called himself “the luckiest man alive and lucky to be alive.”

He developed numerous camera and production innovations, and won a Scientific and Engineering Oscar in 1987 for the design and development of the Shotmaker Elite camera car and crane. Among his other inventions were the air ram, air bag, car cannon turnover, nitrogen ratchet, jerk-off ratchet and rocket power.

'Band of Brothers' by Brett Barrouquere (Associated Press )

FORT CAMPBELL, Kentucky — Spc. Chris Allen grabbed his 17-month-old son, Colson, hugged his wife, Kristin, and celebrated returning to Fort Campbell on Wednesday after six months in Afghanistan.

But an undercurrent of sadness filtered through the joy of the moment: The end of the six-month deployment for Allen and about 140 other soldiers with the fabled "Band of Brothers" brigade also marked the end of their days together as a unit.

"It sucks," Allen, of Lockhart, Texas, told The Associated Press. "I don't want to go to a different unit."

The 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, also known as the Currahees, is one of 10 brigade combat teams that the Army will shut down between now and 2015.

The Army announced Monday that the shutdown process for those teams would speed up, with budget cuts forcing the military to decommission units by 2015 instead of 2017 as originally planned.

The inactivation of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, which became famous in a book by historian Stephen Ambrose and a subsequent HBO miniseries produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, is set to take place in the spring, but no official date has been set.

The Army plans to reduce the size of its fighting force from a high of about 570,000 at the peak of the Iraq war to 490,000 — a reflection of budget cuts and of the country's current military needs as wars in Iraq and Afghanistan end.

Family members waved homemade signs and screamed out as the soldiers stepped off the plane. Once inside a nearby hangar, joyful reunions were everywhere. Hands were held, kisses exchanged, children who had learned to walk or talk while their fathers and mothers were overseas drank in the adults they hadn't seen in a quarter to half their lifetimes.

Dee Dee Brinkley, of San Diego, California, wore a button picturing her son, Spc. Eric Brinkley, who worked on unmanned aerial vehicles in Afghanistan. Eric Brinkley initially intended to join the Marines, but was turned down because of the tattoos on his arms. Instead, he joined the Army, a move his mother sees as working out well because it kept him on an airfield and out of the most dangerous areas of Afghanistan.

"We still worried," Dee Dee Brinkley said. "But he was in the middle of the airfield most of the time, so we could worry a little less."

Fort Campbell spokesman Bob Jenkins said the reorganization will affect about 3,500 soldiers and their families. Of that group, about 320 soldiers will be reassigned somewhere other than Fort Campbell while the rest will get new positions elsewhere at the sprawling military post on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line, Jenkins said.

"This is a pretty big thing because it's part of the 'Band of Brothers,'" Jenkins said. "In some cases, it will help commanders better complete their missions."

Spc. Gil Barreto of Puerto Rico knows the history of his unit. While he's glad to be home, he'll hate to see the 4th Brigade Combat Team disappear.

"It's sad," said Barreto, who played with his 18-month-old son of the same name. "Our brigade has a history, so this is going to be a loss."

The brigade traces its lineage to the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, created in 1942, at Camp Toccoa, Georgia.

The 506th was among several parachute regiments created to sneak behind enemy lines in the war. Nicknamed "Currahee," which is a Native American Cherokee term for "stands alone," the regiment parachuted into Normandy during the D-Day invasion in 1944 and then later parachuted into Holland. The regiment raced to liberate Europe amid bouts of fierce fighting in Bastogne, Belgium, and then overran Hitler's famed "Eagle's Nest" in Germany.

Ambrose's book came out in 1992, igniting public interest in the regiment. The HBO miniseries about the men of Easy Company won national acclaim, and followed the soldiers from paratrooper training through D-Day and the end of the war.

John: Are we supposed to giggle in the solo?

Paul: Yeah.

When I find myself in times of trouble,
Mother Mary comes to me,
Speaking words of wisdom,
Let it be.
And in my hour of darkness,
She is standing right in front of me,
Speaking words of wisdom,
Let it be.

Let it be, let it be,
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom,
Let it be.

when all the broken-hearted people,
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer,
Let it be.
For though they may be parted,
There is still a chance for them to see,
There will be an answer,
Let it be.

Oh Let it be, let it be,
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom,
Let it be.

Yeah Let it be, let it be,
Let it be, let it be,
There will be an answer,
Let it be.

Miranda Kerr et Orlando Bloom by Issam Charhi

Oh God!

Sir Paul McCartney - Queenie Eye

there were rules you never told me
never came up with a plan
all the stories that you sold me
didn't help me understand

but I had to get it worked out
had nobody who could help
so then in the end it turned out
that I had to do it
by myself…

that's the game of rags to riches
dogs and bitches hunt for fame
until you think you know which way to turn

make the day all the switches, wicked witches fan the flame
careful what you touch in case you burn

Queenie eye queenie eye who's got the ball
I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket
O-U-T spells out
that's out
without a shadow of a doubt
she could put it in a pout ?
hear the people shout
hear the people shout

play the game, taking chances
every dance is much the same
doesn't matter which event you choose

never blame the circumstances,
with romances seldom came, ?
never pick a fight you're gonna lose

Queenie eye queenie eye who's got the ball
I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket
O-U-T spells out
that's out
without a shadow of a doubt
she could put it in a pout
hear the people shout
hear the people shout

it's long way, to the finish
when you've never been before
I was nervous, but I did it
now I'm going back for more

here the people shout

Queenie eye queenie eye who's got the ball
I haven't got it, it isn't in my pocket
O-U-T spells out
that's out
without a shadow of a doubt
she could put it in a pout
hear the people shout

In the United States, October is celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink is the color used to symbolize this month, and by now, you’ve no doubt seen it everywhere: stores, labeled onto your favorite products, and even on the jerseys of pro football players. It’s both a month-long national health campaign and reminder for women to be mindful of early detection. With so much ongoing research and coverage on the disease compared to other cancers, you’d think by now certain misconceptions would be thoroughly debunked. Yet, many myths remain that often lead people to assume something inaccurate about the disease, including these three myths:

1. Men don’t get breast cancer

While women are 100 times more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer, men are not exempt. Men have breast tissue too, and thus can still develop the disease. To put things in perspective, the lifetime risk of getting breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000 men. In 2013 alone, there will be an estimated 2,240 new cases of invasive breast cancer among men. However, because of the general lack of awareness about breast cancer risk in men, some individuals may delay visiting their doctor. As a result, men are often diagnosed when the disease is more advanced.

2. Ethnic groups have a higher risk of being diagnosed

To clarify, there are actually several variations of this myth. The first variation is that Black and Latino women are diagnosed with the disease the most. In truth, white women are more likely to get diagnosed, while Black and Latino women are more likely to die from this disease. Conversely, there’s the myth that Asian women don’t have to worry about breast cancer altogether. While diagnoses for Asian women is the lowest for any ethnic group, the number of cases has increased 1.2% every year since 1988. To get even more specific, Japanese American women have the highest breast cancer rate, and the disease is the leading cause of death among Filipino women.

Statistics do shed light on diagnoses rates among all groups, but taking the necessary health precautions is always important.

3. Young women don’t have to worry about the disease

Like myth number one, statistics help conclude that cases among young women are also considerably low. Breast cancer risk increases with age, and only one in eight invasive cancer diagnoses is found in women under 45. Yet, more young women who come forward to discuss their experience give this message loud and clear: no one is immune from the disease. Anything alarming should be spoken about with a physician, even if your age is atypical for certain conditions.

There are many other myths that circulate around the disease, but these three are perhaps the most well known. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is not simply about celebrating survivors and remembering who passed from the disease, but to also remind ourselves of the ongoing research and prevention efforts that need support today. While the celebration will round out by November 1 and the pink will be put away, what many survivors advocate can be applied year-round: live as healthy a lifestyle as possible, and learn to understand your body as each year passes.

Jamaica by Ben Rumsby

Jamaica was on the brink of being cast into the international wilderness last night after the World Anti-Doping Agency vowed to take action that could mean the island is deemed non-compliant with its drug-testing responsibilities.
In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, Wada president John Fahey delivered a withering rebuke to Jamaica over its “farcical” attempts to defer an extraordinary audit of its anti-doping programme until the new year.
Wada director general David Howman had planned to lead a commission to Jamaica after being invited by the island’s prime minister to investigate revelations from the former executive director of the Jamaican Anti-Doping Commission that it conducted no drug tests in the five months leading up to last year’s Olympics.
Jadco’s refusal to accommodate the commission during the remainder of 2013 infuriated Fahey, who last night promised an “appropriate” response, with non-compliance with the Wada Code the ultimate sanction.
That could have dire consequences for Jamaica's world-class athletes including Usain Bolt and company, who may be barred from competing at athletics’ biggest events – including the Olympics – until the row is resolved, notwithstanding that there is no evidence of any individual wrongdoing by Bolt and his team-mates.

Branding Jadco’s position “farcical”, Fahey said: “The current position is unacceptable to Wada and we’re not going to take it lying down, their suggestion that they’ll talk to us next year.
“To suggest to Wada they’re not ready to meet with us to talk about their problem until sometime next year is unsatisfactory, it’s totally unacceptable to me and we shall act appropriately within an appropriate time frame.”
Pressed over whether Jamaica would be declared non-compliant, Fahey added: “There are a number of options. You can read into that exactly what those words are likely to mean but I don’t want to flag it up.”
The former head of Jadco, Renee Anne Shirley, blew the whistle on Jamaica’s lack of drug testing two months ago, having quit in protest earlier this year. She spoke out after five Jamaicans who competed at London 2012 produced adverse findings, including former 100 metres record holder Asafa Powell, who denied knowingly taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Following Shirley’s revelations, Howman warned Jamaica risked expulsion from the Olympics and World Championships by the International Olympic Committee and International Association of Athletics Federations if it failed to address her concerns.
Jadco responded by claiming its drug-testing procedures were in keeping with “international standards”, while chairman Herb Elliott branded Shirley a “Judas” and a “bit demented”.
He added of Wada’s proposed audit: “The last time they were here, they claimed everything was OK. So I don’t see how they’re going to say anything is different this time.”
Meanwhile, Fahey cast doubt on whether Lance Armstrong could be persuaded to come clean over precisely what he knows about the culture of doping in cycling while he was competing.
Fahey welcomed new International Cycling Union president Brian Cookson’s attempts to build bridges with Wada and establish a fully independent investigation into who knew what during the Armstrong era, the remit for which is under discussion.
Cookson has extended a public invitation for disgraced Tour de France winner Armstrong to give evidence to any inquiry and has suggested he would be in favour of a reduction in the 42-year-old’s life ban in exchange for full disclosure.
Fahey said: “Lance Armstrong’s had many opportunities to indicate to the world his remorse for his totally unsatisfactory behaviour, his bullying, his lying and his cheating.
“He’s had many opportunities to redeem himself since this matter came to a head a year ago. I believe there is a need for an inquiry to give a chance for anybody who wants to contribute. If Lance Armstrong’s a party to that, he’s welcome. But I won’t hold my breath.”
The Wada code allows for sentence reduction in exchange for ‘significant assistance’ in other doping investigations, the necessary degree of which would be determined by the United States Anti-Doping Agency in Armstrong’s case.
Fahey said: “If he was able to make a case for ‘significant assistance’, and that means making a lot of information available, then maybe he could convince Usada to open up his case to deal with the sanctions.
“There’s no pardon available in that sport or any other sport under the current code, whether it’s Lance Armstrong or whoever in the world of sport.”

Gabriela Sabatini Von Florian Rotberg | Eurosport

Graf dagegen feierte alleine 22 Grand-Slam-Erfolge.

Ms. Catherine Deneuve

Happy Birthday Ms. Deneuve. God bless you.

Ms. Catherine Deneuve Von dpa

While a certain level of international espionage is to be expected amongst countries without concrete relationships, should the same go for nations that are longtime allies? Thanks to the oft-maligned NSA, the United States is learning the hard way that invading your friends’ privacy is bound to blow up in your face.

Recently, three trusted allies of the United States have discovered that they aren’t so trusted after all. Here are three of the diplomatic relations messes in progress:

1. Mexico

The NSA stands accused of routinely spying on our neighbors to the south, specifically the government officials. The security agency was able to hack into the emails of then-president Felipe Calderon, as well as other members of the Mexican Cabinet. Among Snowden’s recent leaks is an email from President Enrique Pena Nieto that discusses potential Cabinet selections a month before he was elected.

Unsurprisingly, Mexico is super displeased with this breach of trust. “This practice is unacceptable, illegitimate, and against Mexican and international law,” declared Mexico’s foreign ministry. “In a relationship between neighbors and partners, there is no room for the practices alleged to have taken place.”

2. Brazil

Brazil’s government has similarly been the subject of the NSA’s watchful eyes. Though diplomatic relations between Brazil and the Untied States have been fine, Brazil believes it was targeted for “economic motivations.” Specifically, evidence shows that the NSA gathered extensive intelligence from emails and phone calls on Petrobras, an oil company owned by the Brazilian government.

The fall-out from the revelation is nothing to shrug at. Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff cited this surveillance as his reason for canceling a trip to Washington D.C. last month and instead speak harshly about the American spying program to the United Nations. “Tampering in such a manner in the affairs of other countries is a breach of international law and is an affront of the principles that must guide the relations among them, especially among friendly nations,” Rousseff said.

3. France

America’s friendship with France is facing a test now that news that the NSA widely spied on the country has emerged. In just a single month, the NSA gathered more than 70 million emails and other forms of digital communication from France.

Secretary of the State John Kerry is currently in France for unrelated matters and is expected to meet with officials to discuss the latest leak. In the meantime, French official Alexandre Giorgini has cast a warning: “These kinds of practices between partners are totally unacceptable and we must be assured that they are no longer being implemented.” The interior minister has also made it known that this infringement will “require explanation.”

Although Edward Snowden’s leaks have given these three countries specific evidence of spying, the United States is almost certain to face questions from many of its allies. If the United States is watching its friends like France and Mexico, it’s not much of a leap for allies to believe they are having their non-threatening communications monitored as well. Worse yet, it’s probably an even safer assumption for enemies of the United States to believe they are being spied on given how they treat their own allies.

Though the NSA was established with the supposed intention of offering “security” to the American people, it’s time for the United States to face the reality that the no-limits surveillance program is doing more harm than good. Over time, broken relationships like these will make the United States a more vulnerable nation than terrorist threats ever could. There’s no use in taking drastic measures to thwart enemies if the United States is just creating more enemies in the process.

Mr. Noel Harrison We Salute You

Associated Press

British actor and musician Noel Harrison, who sang the Oscar-winning ballad “The Windmills of Your Mind,” has died at 79.
Harrison’s wife, Lori Chapman, said Tuesday that he suffered a heart attack after a performance on Saturday in Devon, southwest England, and died in a hospital.
The son of actor Rex Harrison, Noel Harrison was a British champion skier and represented the country at the 1952 and 1956 Olympics before becoming a professional musician.
He moved to the United States during the 1960s’ British invasion and had his greatest success with “The Windmills of Your Mind,” which was the theme to 1968 heist movie “The Thomas Crown Affair” and won the best song Oscar.
Harrison wrote on his website that did not immediately realize the power of the song, by French composer Michel Legrand and American lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman.
“I went to the studio one afternoon and sang it and pretty much forgot about it,” he wrote.
Harrison also appeared opposite Stefanie Powers in the 1966-67 TV series, “The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.”
He lived in Canada for many years but returned to Britain in the 1990s. He was married three times, and is survived by his wife, several children and grandchildren.

Amy Grant - Breath Of Heaven (Mary's Song)

I have traveled many moonless nights
Cold and weary with a babe inside
And I wonder what I've done
Holy Father you have come
And chosen me now
To carry your son

I am waiting in a silent prayer
I am frightened by the load I bear
In a world as cold as stone
Must I walk this path alone
Be with me now
Be with me now

[Chorus]
Breath of heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy
Breath of heaven

Do you wonder as you watch my face
If a wiser one should have had my place
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of your plan
Help me be strong
Help me be
Help me

[Chorus]
Breath of heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy
Breath of heaven

[Chorus]
Breath of heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy
Breath of heaven
